Is the correction necesary?
Is them being punk/not being punk a universal thing? (by this do 100% of the people in the world think they are not punk? no, of course not, so a correction is superfalous. however if i were to state: 2+2 is 5. Than you could correct me.

I'm done with this discussion..you guys make it tough to have fun :(

But is it a mistake if it is an opinion. That has to be the most arrogant, jack off thing I've ever heard.

Favorite Bands

Okay, if you're anything like me, you know that a band simply isn't like any other kind of artist. It's a group of artists.

Bands form on their own. Mainstream artists are usually put together through auditions and such. Ashley Simpson is not a band. Ashley Simpson is an Ashley Simpson. It doesn't matter how many guitar solos are in her songs [if any], or the drums, or whatever. She is still not a band. Nor is her 'band' a band.

Another difference is that while you might be able to clearly tell the songs appart from your particular genre, others might think 'they all sound the same'. (people may think all 'Punk' songs sound the same, all 'Emo' songs sound the same, etc)This attribute goes for most bands, but not really for the big mainstream artists(sometimes through excessive use of song editing and sound effects.

Here's some examples:
Fall Out Boy- yes
Taking Back Sunday- yes
Utada Hikaru- no
Aerosmith- yes
Motley Crue- yes
NSYNC- no
Kiss- yes
My Chemical Romance- yes
Jimmy Eat World- yes
Usher- no
Guns and Roses- yes
Creed- yes
Alterbridge- no

Note that whether or not they're a band doesn't make them 'good' or 'bad', so please don't come in on a rampage or anything, I just find it difficult to try to make a discussion about bands and such in the other thread. I'll post my list later.

Actually, an Ashley Simpson is really an Ashlee Simpson since that's the right spelling XD >_>

This is going to turn into another flame war like the "real punk" thread o_O. Because I don't agree with you, Britt. Sure, "made-by-reality-TV-show-bands" etc. are often not "true" bands in a sense of the word, but apart from that if they're a group of friends who get together just to play music that they love etc, and they work together properly and well, I think that's a band. And I have to say that Alter Bridge is a band, even if they are Creed with a new singer, because basically they wanted to keep going for the music and they reformed. That's a band.
