Emerald, for the great music, the choice between Latios and Latias (it was version-exclusive in R/S), and the overall quality.

Emerald no doubt about it.

The battle frontier introduction was just WOW! All the hours of attempting to get at those frontier brains...

and I enjoyed every second of it!

Emerald for certain. It was my first Pokemon game, and I loved the story, contest hall, and Battle Frontier~ Battle tents weren't great, but whatever.

R/B and HG/SS is a definite tie even tough I can't choose at all Emerald was still pretty cool too with the battle frontier.

Crystal hands down. Then Sapphire.
Crystal is just amazing... and after I beat Sapphire again, I am starting Crystal up.

Pokémon Crystal.

I thought Gold and Silver were perfect, but Crystal was able to bring it to a whole new level with the first female trainer option, animated sprites, the radio game show to get cool items, the introduction of the Move Tutor and ultra-challenging Battle Tower.

Emerald is a pretty close second, though.

im really torn between red and yellow, mainly because of the amount of people playing it when i was 10 was awesome and something i will never forget, getting to battle 12 different friends was awesome and being able to trade and seeing my first blue version exclusive and getting a gangar was so awesome.

but for actual game play i would have to say sapphire, i have played that game 5 times this summer and got past the elite four in under 10 hours. so much fun.
