Gyarados is preferable to me because of his ability to learn a great deal more attacks than Milotic...I also love that he learns dragon rage on his own in the games because at that time in the game he can take out anything in one or two hits. And later, when more TMs are available, he can learn Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, Ice Beam, Dragonbreath, Surf, and so many other great moves...Milotic can only learn water and ice attacks...that makes it pretty limited.
 
As the moderator of the gameboy strategy section, it frustrates me to be seeing so many Gyarados with flamethrower and thunder and surf and ice beam... *cries*

it's not about the 140 special attack stats... it's about the 370 physical attack power with the ability to dragon dance, and a nice STAB HP Flying. (however: Metal Chicken > Gyarados)


Milotic is limited? =/

(feel free to insert mirror coat or light screen over one of the 2 attacks)

High HP, high sp.def, and recover... use toxic, and recover SPAM. Attack at the right time, and you get a dead sp.attack in front of you. It can block even thunderbolts very well as long as it's not STAB. Actually, Milotic is used more than Gyarados as there aren't that much special sponges if you don't want to use Blissey. Milotic's superior ability to special sponge makes it very worthwhile to have on a team. Milotics with uncommon movesets can even hypnosis at times, calm mind up then sweep.

However, evil egg of doom > Milotic, lol... just like how it's "physical counterpart" is screwed by evil egg's best friend.


They're both equally as good, and useful in their own ways.
 
Both are absolutely hideous, their stats are garbage, and they both learn really bad attacks, the only reason I favor Feebas over Magikarp is because of the graceful Milotic, who's beauty makes it a real pokemon, Stats are Garbage, but it's beauty isnt.
 
Gyarados is better in casual play BECAUSE of his versatility...it's like having a backup Dragonite. I've never concerned myself with IVs, and I never will...I'm not out to destroy everyone, just to have fun =P
 
Plus Magikarp is easier to find than a Feebas, it took me like 20 freakin' hours to find a Feebas.
 
They are both just so cuuute! And they both evolve in their own way! In my little RPG, I have a Magikarp which is like Jessie's Wobbuffet and Misty's Psyduck. And in my Sapphire, I have like, a trillion Feebas's! (one had babies, and then babies had babies, and I have a HUGE family! And their names are hilariouse, which let me keep track of who's who's baby...lol, rambling)
Their both so cute because their useless! But Magikarp will always have a place in my heart, because he was first...
