    Didn't see a thread for this so jumped at the opportunity :D :P
    My fave FF is defo 7, the characters are brilliant and the story has so much depth.
    what are your favourite ff games??

    I have only ever played two Final Fantasy games: Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy VII. I personally like FF7, due to it being the only one out of the two that I've finished, and for having one of the best storylines I've ever witnessed. (FF3=Too much grinding!!!) I might play FF8 later. :)

    Final Fantasy XIII is so fun, I just got rid of my Xbox so I can't play it anymore, but easily one of the best ones I've ever played. But now I'm playing Final Fantasy I on the iPhone and III and IV on my DS...great :)

    I just about played the whole series, they were all pretty enjoyable but they had varying levels of success.
    My opinion on all of the games I've played/cared for in the series.
    Spoiler:

    The best one in the series is Final Fantasy Tactics though. I really liked how it was an SRPG, but the battle system was too flawed for me to fully enjoy. I liked how the story used politics and a protagonist that was brave and rich, rather than a rag tag team of travelers saving the world.

    I might play FF8 later. :)
    You should definately play 8, its so good! Im playing through it at the moment and on the verge of goin to the last disc but need to level up and get weapons first :P
    Not as good as 7 in my opinion but defo an awesome game with a great storyline tht i found really draws you in xD

    I've only played 7, 8, 10, 10-2, 12, and 13 (and of those, only beaten the ones from 10 on)... and some of the spinoffs. It's a fun series. I tend to prefer more action-y RPGs like Kingdom Hearts or the Tales games but I've really enjoyed almost all of the FF games I've played.

    My favourite is probably XIII. I thought the characters were, for the most part, likable. Lightning wasn't what I hoped she would be but is still worthy of my namesake. I loved Vanille and Fang and wish Sazh could have been more than just the comic relief because I really thought he was the deepest and most interesting character--and then essentially ended up as the least-developed one. But the battle system? Oh my god it's so fun. I'm lazy. The auto-battle was godlike. :( And if I wanted to switch off it (which wasn't often), it was still easy to control. I could tailor my party to be how I wanted it with enough work and, well, I really had fun. The only place XIII really suffered in was plot. The plot was cliched and boring, there were really no NPCs of interest, you barely visited any cities, and the only sidequests were battle missions (which, tbh was simple and fine by me but got dull after a while). Also the fact that you literally needed to read the included dictionaries and everything to keep up with all the terms and functions of the world got old too. :/ I was constantly confused and after the years and years of development, I was really hoping for a game that was more complex than "walk in a straight line until chapter 10 and then get lost in a pretty calm lands clone before finding the line and continuing". /rant

    Second favourite is probably X-2. Ashamedly. :( I adore its battle system and if I pretend it's not actually related to X, i can pretend Yuna is a brand new, spunky character who wasn't shoved into a totally OOC role for the sake of selling copies! (Also I like fanservice. :D) I only beat it for the first time the other day ('cause I was stuck in the Via Infinito or whatever) and I'm replaying it to get my 100%.

    .........apparently I love the FF series enough to go on at length about it. Sorry about that. xD;

    @Erica: 13 was my fav too, and it the only game I miss playing on my Xbox :/ I kinda wish I could play it on my PC or something. You really need to play 1-6!! They are really great story wise even if the graphics are not that great....well 3 and 4 remakes on the DS are awesome tho.

    I actually did play 3, come to think of it, but I really don't like the early FFs. I know it sounds hypocritical considering I was whining about the sheer linearity of 13 but... I got lost ALL THE TIME in 3 and I actually had to quit playing the game because I got stuck somewhere too high-levelled and couldn't get back to a town or anything without dying. XD;

    I think I played some of the first one once and just didn't really feel it. I really want to play 5 and 6, though. Especially 6. D:

    That is the main reason why I love 13...because it is SO linear....it just made the storyline so much better cause you could actually FOCUS on it. xD

    Honestly I've probably already been spoilt for them without even realizing it but that's okay. When I play, it's been suggested I play the GBA one but apparently it's inferior in a few ways to the original? (Or the PS1 one, I think it got sort-of ported to?) What's your suggestion? n_n;

    Well, I probably wouldn't have the drive to do any extra stuff. Either way I'll probably try to play them on my DS (flash cart whoo) but if there's a better one I'll gravitate toward it. I vaguely remember someone telling me that the music was better in one of them and maybe I'll go for that one.

    (And I was talking about 6, though I do still want to play both. :3)

    My PSP is kinda broken (the battery cover isn't its original one and is kinda loose) and its square button is kinda dying and I need it to play KH so I'm a bit scared to use it nore than necessary. :(

    My flash cart emulates GBA games though so hopefully that'll work? Worst case I just play it on my netbook, I suppose. (Or actually hunt down and buy the game used, orz.)

    I disagree. The story was actually pretty good and had a lot of potential, it was just ruined by poor writing and directing, aka Motomu Toriyama. I always thought l'Cie and fal'Cie were infinitely more interesting than any other poorly defined antagonists the other Final Fantasy games brought up.

    And the story wasn't even that hard to keep track of. It just has horrible exposition so you have to find out what the stupid slang means before understanding it.

    Also, V has the best battle system in the series after XIII. The job system is infinitely better than the magicite system in VI. VI, however, doesn't suck with plot and characters. V is ho hum run of the mill in every way except its battle system, and the characters and plot are generic despite the series being lauded for its great plot and characters.

    That's true. I thought the Fal'Cie and L'Cie stuff was interesting but i think they pushed you into the game a little too deep in the plot. There must've been other options to explore that would draw the gamer in to learn the world without having magical primers on it in a little journal. I guess tossing you right into the action with no proper knowlege sets the mood of that battle but make for a very confusing first few chapters.

    (juust took a sleeping pill and faling sleep now. sorr fi that's incoherefent. xDl)

    When it comes to this series I have always had a tough time deciding. I want to say 1-3. The other ones from at least 8 onwoard don't impress me that much. I am mostly in favor of the classics when it comes to this game series..

    aaaaaaaHhhhhhh final fantasy.... Square softs saving grace such a perfect game series that revalutionized the rpg my favorite or favorites are 6 and 7 not because I'm with all the other people but because those games just turned the gaming world around along with pokemon red and blue 7 with it's awsome battle system and story and the death scene were shocking at the time seeing the main love intrest die infront of you and six because it was just awsome I have no other reasons sadly I own the Japanese version of ff7 not the English lol

    @Lightning: I just remembered. But, clarify this for me first. Do Wii Virtual Console games come out in Japan before Canada gets them? I know that FF6 came out on the Virtual Console in Japan very recently (I installed it on my hacked Wii), but I am hoping that it'll lead to an English release.

    I don't think that Pokemon was as much of a gamechanger than Final Fantasy was. Final Fantasy was a very good game with a long and difficult plot that made it a good game for it's dollar.

    Yeah i do have to agree put pokemon did sure help nintendo but of coure nintendo was already laughing but back to ff yes the first one I found to be very difficult with you kinda being clueless on where to go in it and of course the famous grinding man that part sucked well in all ff's it sucks the grinding in ff part is the worst part of all the games
