"Don't tempt me. Fine then, I submit... You know, its a little embarrassing being caught by some random guy."

"I'm not some random guy," Jin smirked, as he tied her hands behind her with some rope he'd kept on him. He then tightened the knot securely, and had begun to lead her back toward the prince, though with that dash, the distance back would take a few seconds. "My speed and skill have been unrivaled thus far. Living on your own and attempting seemingly impossible quests on your own can do that to you. Oh yeah, and nightly workouts, eating healthy, getting a right amount of rest... It's more of a lifestyle choice, really." He chuckled as he said this, and they had finally caught up to the prince.

Jin turned to Nokam with a hearty grin and closed-teeth chuckle. "Heheheh... We've got a prisoner! And this early in the war..." He turned to the captured woman with a mocking smirk. "You probably could have succeeded had it been someone else. I have a sixth sense about these things. Oh yeah, and also, that was my tent you were going to burn."

Through all of the shenanigans going on in the camp, one was currently unseen. Hidden behind the trees of the forest was a young boy of sorts. This boy, named Lutaro, had found the campsite of Prince Yokam and the Shepherds through the words of a civilian who happened to know, and he was eager to meet them.

... And by eager, I mean deathly terrified. The boy had certain qualities that he knew many humans did not take too kindly to. He was a manakete... a dragon. Granted, he was also part human, and as he was an Ice Dragon rather than a Divine dragon, there was nothing on him that would indicate he was a dragon (his ears are normal, too), but he knew he would have to tell them. He had heard many great things about the man and his team, understanding them to be benevolent and understanding of all life, but did that apply to manaketes...? He couldn't know...

For now, he simply stood behind a tree, clutching tightly to the light blue blanket in his hands. As he had done for a few days up to this point, he watched the group silently, hoping they would not notice his presence. He wanted to present himself... but could not find it in him to do so with his fears. Especially with how that thief had been apprehended... even if it was more than understandable.

He moved ever so slightly today, however, and happened to be tripped by a vine that lay behind him. The crunch of leaves and dead branches was audible as he fell on his back. Surely they would hear it. They may mistake him for a brigand and smite him there. Oh, what terrible luck...

Wayra Temuujin

Chapter 0, Part 3

Sonatina had congratulated Wayra, and the gesture was quite flattering to him. She seemed to attempt to ask, or possibly tell, Wayra something, but she seemed to have a hard time saying anything. Wayra had thought her mute, but perhaps it was simply a traumatic experience causing her problems. It was really unusual he thought. In an effort to find something that may be able to help her he left for his tent for a different tome, since there may be a way to remove the problematic memories that seemed to ail her. After all, his magic was designed to send things to the void, so theoretically it was possible. It would no doubt be a more advanced spell than Flux, and it would probably take a long time to master it, but the effort could help someone and that would make it worthwhile. He gave Sonatina a wave farewell, slightly regretting not telling her goodbye, since she looked troubled.

On his way back to his tent he saw a really young individual just lurking about camp. The boy looked petrified, he even stumbled over a vine causing him to fall on his back. Immediately, Wayra was suspicious of this boy's way of conducting himself. The boy was not a member of Prince Nokam's militia, and the boy looked like a beggar or a thief, depending on who you asked. Wayra walked up to the boy, his robes hiding any perceivable motion, and gave the child a good look over with his hooded eyes. It was rather odd that a child would be here, but why have such a scared attitude towards the Prince's people? Wayra decided that it would be better to question the boy himself, and if he was not a simple beggar then he would take him to the Prince.

"You, boy. Why are you here? Do not lie to me, it will not end well for you. Speak now."
 
Lutaro had hurt quite a bit from the fall, but it was still only minor. His... her... shirt had already been worn throughout the years, so it wouldn't make a difference in that department. And his blanket had fallen mostly on his body, so it was relatively still clean... ish.

As he moved up, however, one of the Shepherds came towards him. Didn't help that he was hooded and being rather serious in asking. The young boy, who was still on the ground, supporting himself on his arms, replied accordingly.

"Ah..! I... I was..."
He tightly clasped his hands around the blanket.
"... L-Lord Ylisse... I... I came to offer help... for Lord Ylisse... f-for the Shepherds... I don't have anywhere else to go... and I want to help... fight stop brigands and evil... P-Please don't hurt me..."

He was clearly petrified.
 
Prince Nokam

Nokam watched Jinsoku capture the woman and walk her over to where he was standing. Jinsoku gave a hearty grin and closed-teeth chuckle. "Heheheh... We've got a prisoner! And this early in the war..." He turned to the captured woman with a smirk. "You probably could have succeeded had it been someone else. I have a sixth sense about these things. Oh yeah, and also, that was my tent you were going to burn."

Nokam frowned, in spite of Jinsoku's good humor. What am I going to do with her? he thought. I suppose we could outfit a tent to serve as a jail cell if needed. It wasn't as if they were in the middle of nowhere, but it was a good day's march from anything of importance. Maybe one of the smaller villages have a real jail we can keep her in, if needs be. Out loud, he said, "What were you doing? Why were you about to burn down Jinsoku's tent? I would rather not jump to rash conclusions."​

Tarin tried to slip her hands through the rope, but apparently Jin's incredibly good at making hands suffocate. "My speed and skill have been unrivalled thus far. It's more of a lifestyle choice, really."

"What, do you want me to applaud you? Well, my hands are tied buddy, but if they weren't, you wouldn't be getting it anyway. It was luck that allowed you to catch me, nothing more, nothing less." Tarin sneered as she was pulled back toward Nokam. When they arrived she watched as the two briefly talked, before Jin turned back to her and smirked. "You probably could've succeeded if it had been someone else. I have a sixth sense about these things. Oh yeah, and also that was my tent you were going to burn." The final comment actually made her feel a bit better about her situation, smiling at the idea of burning his tent to the ground.

"What were you doing? Why were you about to burn down Jinsoku's tent? I would rather not jump to rash conclusions." Nokam interrogated. "So that's your name, Jinsoku... What a sweet name for, someone like you." Her voice became a lot more bitter around the end of her sentence, before she finally responded to Nokam. "Well blue-boy, I was minding my own business, literally, before one of your men, decided it'd be a grand idea to burn my shop down. So you know, an eye for an eye." She said in an insulting manner. Tarin had absolutely no idea she was talking to the prince of Ylisse, but it probably wouldn't change the way she spoke to him either way. "Now what do you plan to do to me?"

Chapter 0, Part 4

This boy wanted to join the Shepherds? Such an audacious child, to think he could be helpful to the Prince. Maybe there was more to the child than he let on. That was of no concern to Wayra, however, and he figured it wasn't really his decision anyway. He gestured towards the boy, motioning him to stand.

"Follow me, if you want to meet with the Prince I will take you to him."

Wayra turned away from the boy, expecting him to follow. As he walked past several tents he overheard the somewhat familiar voice of the Prince talking to, by the sound of the conversation, a prisoner. How odd, why would there be a prisoner when they had not been in any battles? Once again, it was not his place to question the comings and goings of the Prince, only to follow his orders in exchange for access to his kingdom's tomes. Making his way to where the voices were coming from, he confirmed that there was indeed a prisoner. A girl was tied up and being interrogated, if that is what you want to call it. It was more like asking a simple question and receiving a snarky answer. Wayra took a few steps towards the group, and began to speak.

"Sorry to interrupt you, Prince Nokam. There is a young child wishing to join your cause. I was unsure what to tell him, so I thought you would prefer to handle it."
(OOC: Wait to see whether Lutaro follows Wayra)
 
Lutaro gently and hesitantly stood up as Wayra asked him to follow. Scared as he was, he did follow him across the tents and campground until they at last came across Nokam.

... But truthfully, what really caught his attention was the struggle between thief and robbed. He had not noticed this when he was watching.

"Wh-What... What's going...?", Lutaro uttered rather quietly. TOO quietly. He was most likely inaudible. Wayra spoke to Nokam. "Sorry to interrupt you, Prince Nokam. There is a young child here wishing to join your cause. I was unsure what to tell him, so I thought you would prefer to handle it."

Lutaro, grasping the blanket as tightly as ever, spoke, "I... I'm sure I can help... really...!"

Prince Nokam​

"Well blue-boy, I was minding my own business, literally, before one of your men, decided it'd be a grand idea to burn my shop down. So you know, an eye for an eye." The woman said all of this in a very insulting tone, looking straight into his eyes as if daring him to act. "Now what do you plan to do to me?"

Nokam's frown deepened. "For now, I will reserve judgement. However, I cannot let you go, as you are a threat. You will be contained while I investigate who burned your shop. Jinsoku, take her to one of the unused tents. Supply her with food and water, but keep a guard posted at all times." Then, before they could leave, he asked the woman, "Could you describe the person who burned your shop down?" That would make my investigation much easier."

Wayra approached him, interrupting the conversation. He was being followed by a small child, who couldn't be more than ten years old. "Sorry to interrupt you, Prince Nokam. There is a young child here wishing to join your cause. I was unsure what to tell him, so I thought you would prefer to handle it."

The boy, who held a blanket tightly in his hands, spoke, "I... I'm sure I can help... really...!"

Nokam knelt, getting eye-level with the boy. "Don't you think you're a little young to be joining an army?" he asked. "I appreciate that you want to help, but a boy your age should be playing outside and going to school, not getting involved in war."​

Rejection. In hindsight, he really should have expected that, considering his young appearance and scrawny physique. But there was something the prince didn't know...

"L-Lord Ylisse...!" He swallowed, releasing one hand from his blanket and hesitantly moving it toward the pouch on his leg. "P-please... I can help..."

"..." He remained silent for a few moments. "I... there's something about me... it can make me very valuable... B-But if I show you... it might scare you... A-And you might hurt me..."
 
"Could you describe the person who burned your shop down?" That would make my investigation much easier." Tarin paused for a second, trying to think of whether it'd be better for her to lie about the man's appearance, or tell him the truth. She decided the latter would have a better outcome, as she'd probably be able to get the guy exiled from the encampment, and would possibly get off easier. "I'm pretty sure he was wearing a black cape or something and I think he had black hair. I couldn't tell you what he looked like from the front though, he was running away when I saw him..."

She managed to see a kid approaching. He looked incredibly timid and frightened, and she was thinking of talking to him, but stopped when she saw that he was being escorted by another member of the 'army'. "Ok then Jinny, show me to my room."
 
Prince Nokam​

The boy's face fell. He remained remained silent for a few moments. Before the child could speak, the woman spoke to him. "I'm pretty sure he was wearing a black cape or something and I think he had black hair. I couldn't tell you what he looked like from the front though, he was running away when I saw him..."

Nokam glanced at her, then nodded, noting that he had heard her. He would consult the arson problem soon, but the child was of more pressing concern. Jinsoku began to lead the woman away.

Then the child spoke. "I... there's something about me... it can make me very valuable... B-But if I show you... it might scare you... A-And you might hurt me..."

Nokam was shocked momentarily. What in Naga's name could make this child so scared of him?he thought. And what makes him so valuable? Out loud, he said, "I'm not easily scared. And I give my word that no one will hurt you, no matter what happens."

His hands were shaking, as he pushed his hand through the closed hole of the pouch on his leg. Slowly, he pulled out a stone, with a tight grip. He spoke once more to Nokam, heavily worried. "R-Remember your promise..."

With that, he threw the blanket into the air, as he never felt comfortable taking it with him through the transformation. He then closed his eyes, and held the stone highly above his head. Suddenly, he was covered in a small cocoon of sorts, somewhat resembling a White flower closing up, along with an instantaneous, bright flash of light.

Suddenly, Lutaro was gone.
... Well, not quite. Where a young boy figure once stood, there was now a large Ice Dragon figure. The blanket, which he had thrown into the air, carefully landed on his left wing, easily holding onto the grooves.

Dragons cannot speak any human language in dragon form, so he said nothing, awaiting a response.

Chapter 0, Part 5

They were questioning the girl, though she appeared to be apprehensive in answering them. She eventually answered them with her attacker's description, but he wasn't sure if he had known anybody that fit her description. Prince Nokam sent the girl off with Jin, so that he could address the child Wayra had brought with him. Somehow the child seemed to have something he was hiding, but what could make a child useful for an army. Wayra only knew of magic that could weaponize a youth, but even that only made them dangerous. It did not make them useful; instead it created a killer that couldn't truly control the forces that they utilized. The boy held his hand on a satchel attached to his leg. Perhaps he was right and it was mage, but Wayra did not have the time to teach a child in the ways of magic. Even if he did he could only explain elder magic, which was very hard to grasp, even for him. Wayra was sorely mistaken of what the boy was hiding.

The boy grabbed a stone from his pocket and a large cocoon-like structure engulfed the child. Almost instantly a cocoon hatched, revealing an Ice Dragon. What blasphemy was this? They called Wayra a user of dark magic, but this was truly the work of some devilishly dark magic. Whoever killed the Prince's family must have sent this demon to finish his bloodline. Wayra threw himself in front of the Prince, all while maintaining his eye contact with the beast. Making an aggressive stance, Wayra poised his spell book for the dragon's attack.

"What sort of devilry created you? Who sent you? Are you here to kill the Prince? Speak now demon!"
 
And, of course, he's antagonized. What a surprise. This was honestly pretty obviously coming. Heck, any normal person'd naturally have a plan of negotiation for proving themselves good.

... Tell that to Lutaro sometime.

He was worrying greatly. He couldn't speak in dragon form, so he could not defend himself now... and to simply turn back this soon... okay fine, he was too worried to think straight. These are the only guys he has to turn to and they're turning on him. Whaddaya expect?

Finally, he eventually reacted.
He stopped any movement of his body, falling to the ground, and cowered his head so that it touched the ground in front of Wayra. One could claim it was his way of showing pacifism in this scenario... but in all honesty, it was him freezing up and silently begging to be trusted. Either way, it should get his point across.

Jinsoku at this point had ignored all of the snide comments from the captured woman and simply led her over to a spacious empty tent. He shrugged as he looked around inside. "I wouldn't recommend burning this one down, it looks like you got one of the better ones." He crossed his arms quietly for a moment. "If that tent had burnt down..." He frowned. "I guess I'm first one to guard you."

He sat down on a chair, backwards, so that he could lean over the back support. "I'm sure fighting fire with fire is good as a battle tactic, but they also say two wrongs do not make a right." He shrugged lazily. "You're like one of those Anti-Villains. Which means, despite starting with less-than-heroic goals, the end result is always..." He paused, then suddenly stood from the chair. "Hey, what if you joined the Shepherds?"

The child pushed his hand through the closed hole of a pouch on his leg. Slowly, he pulled out a stone, Holding it tightly. He spoke once more. "R-Remember your promise..."

He then closed his eyes, and held the stone highly above his head. Suddenly, he was covered in a small cocoon of sorts, somewhat resembling a white flower closing up, along with an instantaneous, bright flash of light.

Suddenly, the child had gone. Where the child had stood a large white dragon hovered. Nokam gasped. Had the child transformed into this beast? Before Nokam could react to this turn of events, Wayra threw himself in front of Nokam. He settled into an aggressive stance. "What sort of devilry created you?" Wayra shouted. "Who sent you? Are you here to kill the Prince? Speak now demon!"

The dragon seemed to freeze, even though he was still flapping his wings. He then fell to the ground, and lowered his head so that it touched the grass in front of Wayra's feet. It was obviously a sign of surrender.

Nokam ran in front of Wayra, stretching his arms out. "Don't attack him! I gave him my word remember?" he said. "We can't harm him." Then turning to the boy, now a dragon. "Can you transform back so that we can talk?"​
 
"..."

The dragon raised it's head and closed its eyes. A cocoon once again surrounded him, and with another the flash, the young boy stood there once more, in his human form once more. He caught the blanket as it fell from where his wing had been. With the exception of the dragon footprints in the soil, it almost seemed as if a dragon had not been there at all.

"Th-Thank you for staying true to your word... I... I did not want to fight..."
 
Tarin started to wander around the tent, rubbing her leg against the wall of the tent to check how strong the material was. 'It'd make a nice replacement...' she thought, before examining the rest of the room. Jin sat down on a chair, backwards, so that he could lean over the back support. "Now why would you want me to join them? They're almost as bad for my business as a group of brigands..." Tarin finally realised where she was. "This is the Shepherd's camp, isn't it?" She asked, turning her back to the man. Tarin had noticed that with all the insanity going on, no one had stripped her of her knives. She looked around the room for something to push her dagger out, but the room was pretty barren. "So let me get this straight, you want me to join your army. Me... A girl that you don't even know the name of and have never fully seen my face. Mere minutes ago I was going to burn this campsite down, and now you want me to just join you... Great logic there Jinny." Tarin laughed.
 
Shinji Chozu
(Sorry I don't have the status bar. I wanna write up a quick post before I go to bed for the night.)

Shinji loved riding upon Roshi through the sky. The wind in his hair, the smell of burnt air, and the feel of Roshi's hardened scales. If there was anything that could make this better, it would be a fine lady-friend that he could wrap his arms around. Yep. That would be the life for a dashing, brave warrior such as himself. "Hey Roshi!" The wyvern was just gliding, so it was very quiet. Very peaceful. Shinji took flights like this quite often so he could clear his mind. He did this very often when he was going through a weekly break-up, and when a friend had died or something. He could stay up there as long as he needed, seeing as Roshi was a massive dragon that could fly for a long time. "Wanna touch down near the base?" The dragon managed to turn its head back and gave a nod, then took a quick swan dive. Acrobatics was a common thing they've managed to incorporate into their flying routine, so it didn't bother Shinji in the slightest.

The pair touched down half of a mile from the base, giving Shinji even more time to walk there. He began to hum a little marching tune and even pulled The Bad-Axe from its sheath and twirled it around playfully. The axe wasn't necessarily light, but it was definitely not heavy. It weighed around an estimated twenty-two pounds. He tossed it up into the air and caught it by the shaft on its downward arc. Today has been a good day. A grin spread across his face as he entered the base. I think tomorrow will be a great day too.
