I've downloaded a pokemon fire red 721+ hack and applied the patch to a fire red rom, yet when i open advanced map, it still only shows me up to Gen 2. Is there anything else I have to do?Sorry if this is a noob question, I'm not an experienced hacker.

A-map doesn't support roms with extended pokemon. As of right now, I don't think there are any map editors that can edit those roms. Also, shouldn't it go up to Gen 3?
If you want to edit the wild encounters, one thing you could do is find out the addresses of the encounter table in a clean rom, and go to those in the 721+ rom, then edit them there.

Im the creator of the 721 rom base and of course you can add all the pokèmon in the advance map, Send me MP and I give you the advancve map working with the base
