T h e P a s t
Ever since the world was created, there have been people roaming it to protect unknowing humans from the mythical beings that prey upon them. These people are simply referred to as Reapers. In the beginning of their lives there was nothing that marked eventual Reaper as unusual. They went to school, they had families, they had friends, they fell in love. They experienced a normal human life. But that all changed when they made "the jump".In lamer terms, "the jump" is when a human dies in some freak accident and becomes, in a sense, reborn as a Reaper. People who have made "the jump" all have an oddly designed tattoo (called "the mark") somewhere on their body. More often that not, the tattoo is either black, or a bluish or purplish shade. The mark remains on the Reaper's body until they meet their eventual death. As well as gaining the mark, some Reapers have found that after experiencing "the jump", they seem to gain some new, odd ability such as going invisible and reading minds. Not every Reaper gains a new ability though. There are a few Reapers who have nothing other than the basic skills that come with the job.
A new Reaper is often referred to as a Fledgling for the first year or so. During their time as a Fledgling, they are sent to stay with an experienced Coven. The leader of that Coven is then to assign the Fledgling to shadow an older Reaper, who is responsible for training the newbie and showing them the ropes. Often, the Fledgling is left to do the basic Reaper jobs that the older Reapers don't want to do. This usually includes helping troublesome ghosts pass on to the afterlife, dealing with the recently deceased, and keeping ghouls from destroying graveyards. A new Reaper rarely comes in contact with Demons or Angels until their third or fourth year.
Three out of five towns contain groups of Reapers, called Covens. And for good reason. The fact is, three out of five towns have some sort of portal leading to the Seishin Seken, or the, the native world of the reapers, the Spirit World. They share it with all the other souls and spirits.. There is is also a gateway known as the Azure Gate, it lets demons pass to and from Earth. Many many weak demons prowl the Earth, and there are a lot of powerful ones as well, but not as many, and the ones that are there remain in hiding, the most powerful a five bar demon. And the only way a demon that powerful can be stopped once it touches Earth is for a powerful Reaper to sacrifice them self in a ritual called Communion of Hell. The only way for the demon to break free after they've been sealed is to get a lesser demon to collect two children of Eden [children born with Angel blood] and sacrifice them in the name of the first demon. The odds of the two rituals being performed in one lifetime (A Reaper's, that is) is slim to none, though.

A good seventy years ago, the town of Coran was just a small town in the middle of nowhere. If someone had been asked to point to the town on a map, they'd just scratch their head and wonder if it even really existed. If it hadn't been for a man named Walter Evans, it probably would've stayed that way. Mr. Evans saw the town was just barley surviving and decided they needed to boost their local economy. And there's no question that he accomplished that. Twenty years and over a million dollars later the small sleepy town was turned into a bright city of lights. The population sky rocketed from a little over two hundred to a whooping four thousand, and that's not even counting the endless streams of tourists. It's not that hard to get lost in the sea of faces. But with the increase in population came the increase in crime. Walking down the street after dark became a death sentence. But the thieves and murderers in Coran are the least of its resident's problems. Coran sits on top of a portal to the Forbidden World.
Modern day Corans' Reapers currently have a lot on their plate. On top of all the new weaker demons and angels to interview and record information on, they seem to have lost track of a certain powerful demon's followers. The main demon is still sealed in the Abandoned Theater on the outskirts of town and there hasn't been any recent attempts to free him, so they're willing to let it slide for the moment. But what they don't know is that the demon that got away has found a reason to lay low for a while. And that reason is they have found two children of Eden. And now the demons are just waiting for the right moment to make their move…

___This is a literate to advanced roleplay, so correct spelling is expected. If spelling's not your thing then I'd recommend typing up your post in a Word Document first and transferring it over. I'm horrible at spelling, and doing that helps a lot. Misspelling a few words wrong occasionally isn't going to get me on your case. But if every other word in your post is wrong then we're going to have a problem. I don't want; *jumps onto the table*. Type things out for god's sake. ___Try to make your character's bio as creative as possible. I don't want every single character to have an tragic past, because let's face it. Not everyone was abused as a child or abandoned at an orphanage. I also don't want all the Reaper characters to be angry about their deaths. I want at least one role play sample! I want it in link form too. Not posted inside the thread. If I don't think you can keep up with the rp, I'll tell you. Do not send in a profile and only post once without telling me anything. You do this, you will automatically get on my bad side. That kind of stuff pisses me off. If you don't want to be in the role play any more, or can't for some reason then just tell me. I won't get mad if you tell me, I promise. :3

I'm encouraging romance in this role play but there's no need to go into detail about your character's sex life. Cursing is fine with me, but don't go overboard with it. There will be some fights in this roleplay. And when we hit that point, do not godmod. Don't kill any body's characters with out their permission. And if you chose to let your character be killed off then we can work something out and create another character for you. :3. Plot, plot, plot. I want this roleplay to run for a while. Not a month / week. It can be done. Trust me. There will be twists and turns in the storyline. I can make up some of these, but I'd really appreciate it if anyone else had ideas they want to contribute. We will be talking about plot in the Out of character thread, and I will be posting announcements in the thread as well, so try and pop in everyone in a while. Respect the people in this thread.
