I've been working on my own FR ROM hack for a while but at some point I did something that is making certain flags turn on at the start. Notably the ones that control the visibility of Oak's sprite before the player goes into the grass, and the lift key+silph scop overworld sprite being hidden/not hidden. I've tried replicating the issue with a clean ROM to no avail. Second photo is flags from a new save on a clean ROM (left) and flags from a new save on my hacked ROM (right). It's not a game breaking bug but it does look bad.

I've gone through the scripts for the players house, pallet town, and Oak himself with Advanced Map and found nothing odd. Also went through the starting flags with Hexmaniac and found nothing. Adding a script, set to load when the player goes downstairs, to turn off the flags/vars doesn't seem to work either. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great!

Yes.. and for some reason when I start a new game with this ROM those flags are already checked when they shouldn't be. That's my problem. He shouldn't be visible like that. I don't know what part of my ROM is setting these flags but it has to be something in the beginning, I just don't know where to look.
