Here is my current Infernape build:

Infernape @ Leftovers or Life Orb
    Trait: Blaze
    Nature: Careful
    - Nasty Plot
    - Close Combat
    - Grass Knot
    - Flamethrower/Fireblast/Overheat

What is the best option for that last slot? All three are special attack type. Flamethrower has the best accuracy, Fireblast sacrifices that for good damage. Overheat has slightly better damage than even Fireblast with better accuracy but lowers satk. I can counteract that with Nasty Plot. Any thoughts?

flamethrower, but umm, you already have life orb... why don't you replace nasty plot with stone edge? life orb works just fine for mixape, and to use it to the best of its ability, you shouldn't have to waste a turn making up for the lowering of special attack from your previous attack.

I was under the impression that Life Orb would stack with Nasty Plot. Or does Life Orb only increase atk and not satk too?

Along with Flamethower's accuracy, it also has more PP, which I find attractive. But think what'l happen if you fully charge Fire Blast or Overheat with Nasty Plot. Painful. ;D

Life Orb only increases Atk and it decreases HP whenever you deal damage. So your life orb would only contribute towards your Close Combat, while Nasty Plot towards your Fire attack and Grass Knot.

Life Orb increases both sp attack and attack... it's a 1.3 power boost for each.

Not according to both Serebii and IGN.

    IGN said:
Life Orb - (Increases Attack Damage 10% but decreases HP 5% when you deal damage)

well both sites were unclear on pointing that out. by attack damage, it's both forms of attack. it increases the base power of all damage moves. if you don't beleive it, test it out yourself.

Alright then, I'll take your word for it. I suppose a double increase would probably be appropriate seeing as SD already covers for Attack.
I would test it out, but seeing as my DS is gone for repair, I might not get D/P play for some time =(

yeah, i'm sure it is. the description in the game says itself that it increases the power of moves, and not of stats.
