The title maybe sounded so much strong xD But I'm sure that everybody noticed it in a way or another, but this is fact: pokemon don't take part in " another world", this is what I want to discuss here.
And them someone could ask me " But Sliter, on every game opening/movie opening or new anime season they start with [Welcome to the world of the pokemon], how couldn't it be?"
And I can answer that this is what the western versions do with the series, to avoid showing to kids all the Japanese references they changed a lot of things (It's like that japan do thing from another world? well ...lol) this intro in fact on original is more like this: [Pocket monsters, or just Pokemon, are creatures that live in our world(...)] , see now?
(Who actually do welcome you to entering his world? it's like he know there are more than one? hmmm strange isn't?)
And maybe you can ask me "But I never saw a ratata runing on the street!"
Its obvious because you aren't in Japan Well, did you saw Spiderman or Superman too? tecnically they don't live in "another world", pokemon is the same way, clear now?
The game( and in the western version it still there) give us a lot of reverences like on the dex entries that Mew was saw in South America(He is near me omg omg ), Chinese legends of Arcanine, Lt Surge being the lighting american and stuffs
Differently from Mario that is Italian but live in a world where Italia do not exist
So well, pokemon take place in our world, not the real one but an pocket version of it (You can see some guys playing pokemon in pokemon game , it's funny lol)
So how you can see, Kanto, Jotho, Hoeen and Shinou are directly based on japan (The pokemon ranger are too, the mystery dungeon I think not) compare Shinnoh with Hokkaido landscapes:
The climate stuffs are also related, like in Hoeen having more a tropical look and Shinnoh snow everywhere, the pokemon are based by climate and stuffs.
Another proof I can give but it'd only had at the gen3 is that (I hope everyone know that) the money is based on Yen currency, the western changed it to Pokedollars(well it change for every language) and changed the money kanji to the little "P" but in Colloseum and XD (wich are based on U.S. regions) the currency are changed to "pokedollars" the prices are keep but it's the first time the "Pokedollar" symbol appeared in a japanese game.
It was strange for me that in BWs, being based on USA they don't made the same, but I think now they got tired of making too accurate to real world since all the western version call it another world xD but you can see that now it's going to be based in France on the XY, so the references still.
What do you think?
