Fossil Revival

Every region in Pokémon world have fossils--Kanto and Johto have Helix, Dome, and Old Amber; Hoenn's got Root and Claw; for Sinnoh, it's Skull and Armor; in Unova, we have Cover and Plume; and finally, in Kalos, we've got access to Jaw and Sail. Scientists could revive these fossils, and by doing so, they would be transformed into Pokémon. What are your opinions on this concept? Do you like it, or dislike it? When reviving fossil, what do you think that they actually do--what steps do they take?

Well supposedly scientist (here in real life) are re-creating a Woolly Mammoth using some frozen DNA or something. They also successfully were able to "grow" beef using a small bit of DNA. I would think the pokemon world, something similar would happen. Using a piece of DNA still intact on the fossil somehow and grow it into a pokemon.

I think... To do this, they'd need a piece of fully intact genome from a pokemon. It would basically be like cloning, and that is possible but the cloned animals have shown to be prone to many defects, mutations and in turn diseases; their lifespan is greatly reduced from that of a naturally born animal from what I've heard. At least when we talk complex stuff like sheep.

Makes you wonder if there is really some kind of spark of life that is necessary for a life to grow well. In pokemon, we have this force called Aura, and pokemon in general possess stronger healing functions and magical powers, than do humans and animals. So maybe pokemon would be the creatures that are strong enough to live a decent life as a clone, a resurrected copy of a long dead fossilized pokemon.

I think, like the ideas I discussed in an old Fossil Club (old fossil, get it?) they should really expand this concept. Yes, it is quite weird the way they need a small stone to convulse into a full-fledged Pokémon, and this can be compared to the cloning concept in real life. The Pokémon world has a lot of unorthodox technology, let's admit... from small capsules containing gigantic creatures to boxes sending Pokéballs (containing Pokémon nonetheless) through various Pokémon Centres to reach the trainer. Comparing this with the revival of fossils, Wynaut? I feel that the Aura RHCP talked about could be the necessary item for revival. Think of the aura as a fingerprint, or DNA. An exclusive to each Pokémon. The driving force that compels them to be the magical creatures they are, could be a very good identification system. Heck, I'm sure all Lucario use this aura to locate their friends as well.

Yes, cloning is a very flawed art, and Dolly (that cute sheep that was cloned off) died of some uncommon disease, though her children lived very mediocre lives. All further attempts failed at most. Still, remember that the first fossil reviver was that Pokéflute player Dr. Fuji, and he loved Pokémon. I'm just clinging on to the technology in the Pokémon world.
