I'm fairly new to Shoddy, and I'm having fun trying to build a team that (with a bit of prediction), can switch in on a lot of things through immunities. If you could help me improve this team, I'd be very grateful.
Bronzong - *edit* Sassy - Levitate - Lum Berry
EVs - 252 HP / 86 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SpD (standard smogon wall set)
IVs - 0 Speed
Moves:
*edit* Hypnosis/Reflect (I'll try both)
Stealth Rock
Explosion
Gyro Ball
Analysis: Bronzong is my lead and is used mostly to put up Rocks, inflict status when possible, and Gyro Ball fast lead threats (Aerodactyl, Azelf, etc) and explode when necessary. Lum Berry is chosen over Leftovers because it is seldom alive long enough to benefit from the health bonus and commonly ends up against sleep leads like Roserade and other Bronzong. I decided not to go for heatproof because I noticed a lot of people tend to EQ my 'Zong just to check. Plus it's not very effective against Heatran, the main fire user (it usually has earth power as well - and hell, what is Explosion or Gyro ball going to do to it?) and it doesn't work for my team of immunities.
Heatran - *edit* Timid - Flash Fire - Choice Scarf
EVs - 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Speed
Moves:
Fire Blast
Earth Power
Explosion
Dragon Pulse
Analysis: Heatran follows naturally from Bronzong. When I spot Azelf, other Heatran, or other fire users switch in, I switch to Heatran. The speed EVs, Jolly nature, and 252 speed EV's allow me to outspeed Scarf Heracross, DD Gyarados, base 130 speed pokemon, and, more importantly, to tie other heatran with the same idea. I'm not concerned with this set aside from possibly flamethrower over fire blast and one of the HP's over Dragon Pulse.
Vaporeon - Bold - Water Absorb - Leftovers
EV's - 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 Spe
*edited* Moves:
Protect
HP Electric
Surf
Wish
Analysis: When Heatran looks to be threatened by a water user, in comes Vaporeon with a standard set. HP Electric acts as a counter to Gyarados and bulky waters with grass knot. Wish+Protect for self healing, and wishpassing for the team.
Flygon - Adamant - Levitate - Choice Scarf
EVs - 80 HP / 252 Attack / 176 Speed
Moves:
Outrage
Earthquake
U-Turn
Draco Meteor
Analysis: This is Scarfgon. Scarfgon makes an excellent counter for pretty much everything that is thrown at Vaporeon and Heatran. It sneers at entry hazards and loves sandstorm. Flygon can sweep late-game with STAB outrage and EQ and scout in the early game with U-turn. Draco Meteor is there to finish off dragons early in the game and avoid getting locked. This pokemon is essential to my team as it is my only major Physical threat. The next two pokemon are the two I'm worried about the most, as they seem kind of separate to my team.
Empoleon - Modest - Torrent - Petaya Berry
EVs - 12 HP / 232 Speed / 252 SpA / 12 SpD
Moves:
Agility
Substitute
Surf
Grass Knot
Standard Agilitysubpetaya Empoleon. Great late-game sweeper. Grass knot is chosen over other possible options in order to kill bulky waters that often wall Vaporeon, Swampert in particular. This one is up for replacement if necessary, because while it makes a great sweeper, it doesn't have the destructive power of some threats (SD Lucario comes to mind) and doesn't seem to fit in as well with my team as the above four.
Spiritomb - Impish - Pressure - Leftovers
EVs - 252 HP / 140 Attack / 116 SpD
Moves:
Taunt
Pain Split
Will-O-Wisp
Pursuit
Spiritomb is a bit gimmicky, but is used to cripple DDers/SDers/Physical threats and taunt threats like Blissey away. Its Fighting/Normal/Psychic immunity fits in well with the team, as fighting is a massive threat to pokemon like Heatran and Empoleon. Pursuit/Pain Split/Will-O-Wisp is used on the switch, depending which is needed the most. Chansey is stopped cold by this set unless Spiritomb is afflicted with Toxic or something like that. This pokemon helps my team out a lot, but is often killed before it can start causing damage. Rotom is looking to be a replacement as I don't have an electric attack on the team and it can survive better.
Overall team analysis - I'm winning about 50/50 with this team. It's definitely not BAD (at least to my standards), and since I like using prediction and free switches to my advantage, it fits well with my playing strategy. The last two pokemon, while useful in certain situations, could be replaced by pokemon that fit into the strategy better. A Rapid Spinner/Spiker/Toxic spikes absorber could be useful, though with the first four pokemon only vaporeon is crippled by the latter. A sleep absorber could also be useful.
*edit* Yeah Jolly on Scarftran was epic fail. My bad. I just slapped that on there saying, oh hey, this increases speed. lulz.
