4th Gen G/S/C: anyone miss them?

I always thought too myself they were gonna make it for the 3rd version but they didn't.

I plus I like that they don't have the pokemon from the 3 and 4 generations even though the games are technically in the 4th generation. thank god, because the games would be ruined if so. go gen 1+2 pokes! (2 are better though ;))

Mamoswine, Yanmega, Tangrowth, Lickylicky, and Ambipom?
(These 5 were added to the pokedex.)
---------------
I never got to play G/S/C, so I guess I wouldn't miss them :/

Yeah, I miss them, but I'm not one of the dumb people (no offense) that says "ZOMG the old games are always the best!" I don't see how they much better. I personally just think the graphics look cool in the old games, but the new ones are so much better.

I used to play my old Silver version a ton until the battery went and died on me. I didn't play Gold as much or Crystal even, but I still had them and their batteries went out too. Heck, because of the DS being unable to play old GB games, I used to still take my SP around with me so I could still play Silver. So yeah, I still miss being able to play it, and use my pokemon in Stadium 2 as well.

I just did get my Crystal battery replaced not too long ago (as for why Crystal...it's mainly because ever since SS, I also developed a slight liking to Eusine) so I'm planning on starting a new game in that to play it on through again.

If your having problems with saving you can emulate GBC colour games easily, there not very big files ;)

Even though I enjoy playing HeartGold, when it is compared to the original Gold - the Gold was legendary.

Pretty much since at that time everyone were hyped up and wanted to see all the new Pokemon (after all, there were only 151 for a while back then) every single new Pokemon that was out there was like, wow.

HeartGold to me is like, this game looks pretty cool but at the same time it's familiar as well.

In my opinion, I just think they may have moved on too quickly with the whole Black and White thing including the new graphics. I actually preferred the Advanced series over DS ones.

True, which I do have the games on here for when I feel like playing through again. But it's not like you can carry a laptop in your pocket for during breaks at work, while waiting for a ride, or any other sort of shenanigans while out and about. Especially when in places where you wouldn't want to leave your computer out of your sight for a second.

And besides, I need Crystal at the very least so I can finally finish off Pokemon Stadium 2 as well. As I've been working on my red again so I can finish off the 2nd round in the first stadium game.

I miss my Pokémon Silver, even when I know it was a bootleg translation and that I only had it for 4 months before its battery died. I still feel nostalgic when I remember it.

Back in the Generation II days, EVs, natures, and all that junk was not a big deal. That stuff began to roll in on Gen. III.

I remember Silver. I had it for a while. I gave up on it when I got to Jasmine's gym. That steelix just kept ticking me off. Well, probably because my only trained Pokemon was a Lv. 54 Pidgeot. And a Lv. 22 Bayleef sitting in the corner.

That was of course before I realized that training just one Pokemon wasn't the best way to go.

It's nostalgic, really. I'd like to go back to those days for a while. No one cared about havin the absolute Perfect IVd, EV trained, perfect nature Pokemon. When you caught them because they looked cool. For example, Ariados. I thought that thing was a beast. Turns out, it has horrific stats. But I didn't have problems with it in Silver.

So much has changed since then, such for good and such for bad.

Hah this is true, well if you have an iphone or ipod touch there is emulator apps i play crystal on my ipod touch myself - That fits in your pocket :P

Since Pokemon Crystal was the first Nintendo and Pokemon game I ever played, I have some great memories of it. I remember the Christmas morning I got my Gameboy Color, and Pokemon Crystal. I've played through it countless times and still have my GBC and Crystal in mint condition.

Good times, good times.

I'm getting furious by those types of threads...
What do you mean about missing them?! You still can play it as ever. The cartridges didn't die. You think Nintendo should stop making pokemon games? Think about it.
It's natural we miss things we played before, like i miss the old FF games, but still i think there are WAY too many "Nostalgia assembly" threads...

I wish I knew as much about pokemon back then as I do now. Such as the special/physical types, and where to find certain rare pokes, like heracross or pupitar. No one in our pokemon group could EVER find them (probably cause we were 10 year olds).

Haha yea, I remember I loved Gold so freaking much. Mainly because I wasn't allowed to have it for a few months

The reason people make threads on these because they miss the days before that Wi-Fi, Competitive Battling, all that stuff had taken over with the release of Diamond. Before Generation IV, the idea was "Catch-Them-All" and that experience. Because battling in Generation II could only be done if you hooked up your gameboy with a friends and played with the Pokemon you caught, regardless of IVs, Natures, and fought for fun.

Of course you can still play them. But they don't mean necessarily The Game. It was the Feeling and the Idea that you had when you played it. And when I've played Soulsilver, Diamond, PKR, Emerald, all that newer stuff, I don't get that feeling when I pick up Silver.

I don't think that with all the updated graphics, Heart Gold and Soul Silver hold that really early stuff. I also dislike how your able to get tons of legendary's.
It's just not the same. :(
