2nd Gen G/S/C Monotype Challenge

1. Update Guys
atm i´m looking for an hm slave for surfer, but one thing i´ve to say: Grass is really hard
the first arena wasn´t this hard, the only problem was the spearow at first
2. badge is nearly impossible without pokemon around lv20 but finally my Bayleef destroyed that scyther
the normal badge is much easier than bugsy even with the same level pokemon
4. badge was hard again, but now i kicked the butt of this ***** Gengar with my 29 Exegguter

and last:

(Bayleef)
Cut; Razor Leaf; Synthesis; Poisen Powder

I now the sunkern is really underleveled, but hey i just caught it 5 min ago
 
Update:

Steel challenge finished, and with my Scizor being lower than expected, lvl66 only.

Just goes to show...Swords Dance and Agility go a long way :D.

So if you would, please add me to steel champion list, and put me down for Dragon types.
 
@ Urwaldbewohner: I advise using Poliwhirl as HM slaves, it gets all 4 Water HMs and Strength (Poliwag sadly doesn't).
I disadvise using Sunkern/Sunflora, if you don't just want to use it for the heck of it. Everything Sunflora can do can be done a lot better by your other teammembers. A Grass/Poison type like Victreebel or Vileplume would fit there better, STAB Sludge Bomb has proven to be very useful in some situations for me, despite its lack of super-effective coverage.

@ BebbZ: You must have skipped a whole lot of trainers then. In my mono Bug my Scizor got to level 64 - but I was using a full team for most of the time.

When I did mono bug my scizor was close to lv80. I dunno what I did different except I caught it a lot later on. But ah well, level doesnt matter as long as I can overpower Red's Charizard.

Update on dragon run:
Transferred dratini egg over.
Realised how pathetically weak dratini is with only wrap and leer (and thunder wave).
(I can see now why noone wants to do Dragon, never in all these years have I struggled against wild rattata's when I start with full hp).
Beat Sprout tower.
Beat Falkner (never used so many potions so early on).
 
Update on Dragon-run:
Dratini learned Twister (making the game a LOT easier at this point)
Got to Bugsy, won, again using a ton of potions.
Beat rival.
Beat Whitney.
Got to Ecruteak, beat rival in Tin Tower, saw Suicune run off.
Lost to Morty.
Dratini evolved into Dragonair.
Beat Morty.
Went to Cianwood, beat CHuck.
Went back to Olivine, talked to Jasmine (oops I forgot to get the potion for Amphy)
Got potion.
Beat Jasmise (<3 Dragon Rage)
Beat Team Rocket.
Beat that Ice gym leader (<3 Iron tail)
Beat Claire.
Obtained Extremespeed Dratini from the Dragon master.
Saved and switched off.
 
Update, beat Clair, it was very hard since her Kingdra knew Surf and I had nothing super effective against it, I got past Victory Road, I forgot how short they made it for GSC, beat Silver so bad he didn't get one move out. Now I'm at the entrance of The Indigo Plateau, I'm thinking of training just a little bit more.

@ Bebbz: Don't you want to use the Horsea Line, for some variety in your team?

@batmon: Is there a single skippable trainer you didn't skip? xD
First you finish Red with Nidoking being only in the 60s, now you're in front of the Gold Pokemon League with a Houndoom in the 50s... The Quagsire I used recently (was not even a solo run, but almost) already was level 67 when I beat the Elite 4...
 
At level 54 your Houndoom should be able to handle the Elite 4 and Lance no problem. As long as you can beat Lance's Gyarados. And even that shouldnt be hard with Crunch in there.

Believe it or now, but I battled all the trainers I came upon, I think mines are always lower levels because I don't like to grind my levels :nervous:
 
I don't like grinding too much too, only on the very beginning at the game when my Pokemon is too weak to beat the weakest trainers around.
But I always seem to end up with pretty high-leveled Pokemon, for whatever reason...
 
Update, beat the E4, it was so easy, Will got talen out in 20 seconds, Koga was a pushover, Bruno who I thought would be the heardest was a cupcake, that blonde girl was easy, she tried to copy my Houndoom but failed, and Lance was a little tough but only because of his cheating Aerodatyl who knows Rock Slide and his Dragonite who knows Outrage, now I'm done half the challenge. The only challenge I see in the future is Misty and Red's Blastoise.

Nah, not gonna go for Kingdra, cant be bothered trying to get a Dragon Scale. It was worth it for a steel run (Cos steel pokemon are the best :P).

Besides, I figure a couple of Dragonites is a pretty good team anyway. (Though its a dragonair and a dratini atm).

And I'm just entering the E4 as we speak.

A Dragon Scale is in Dragons Den.... you were just there :D

Edit: Whoops I'm wrong
 
Ok, I did just realize the Item that lies in Dragon's Den is the Dragon FANG, not SCALE, for some reason I had always been believing the item you have to get there in GS was the one for Kingdra. Now I get your point.
Good luck with the Elite 4 anyways, and congratulations @ Batmon for beating them.

Edit: At least I am not the only one with that wrong thought...
 
Well, if it makes anyone feel better, I also thought the one you get in Dragons Den was the one for Kingdra until I got it :P. But yeh, since it's not, my dragonairs should be good. E4 was a bit tough for one dragonair so I'm grinding for a bit.
 
Quadruple update, got to Kanto, decapitated Lt. Surge, easily handled Sabrina, went all the way down to Fuchsia and took out the wannabe Poison Girl, went all the way up to Cerulian, got the Machine Part, and took out Misty with one move (Crunch)

For the second time today: Monotype run finished.

During the Dratini stage, was pretty tough going. Dragonair was pretty much just going through easily cos of the level advantage.

Dragonite however is pretty much unbeatable. Lv63 and managed to beat Red (His blastoise was pretty annoying with blizzard though, thank goodness it missed 3 times).

Will begin on a new monotype as soon as a decide which one to do.

Edit: Have transferred the egg from the Daycare center on Crystal to a new game on Silver, and will continue with that random type (therefore either Ice, Fire, Electric or Normal) if thats ok by the rules?

Update, beat the last 4 gyms easily, now it's on to Red, his Blastoise is keep on destroying me with Surf so I might have to replace Solar Beam with Iron Tail since I never really needed Iron Tail. Went grinding more by doing the E4 again, and when I was walking on that route that's connected to New Bark Town I saw Entei after thinking I went through almost the whole game and not seeing any of the Dogs.

- Got Togepi Egg, it hatched, then i deposited it
- Got thru Sprout Tower, got HM05
- Defeated the Violet Gym
- Got TR out of Slowpoke Well
- Defeated Rival outside of Ilex Forest
- Defeated Bugsy
- Got HM01
- Beat Whitney
- Got SquirtBottle and Caught Sudowoodo
