Started my game and named myself Chris
Chose Chikorita as a starter
Did story plots...
Catched Geodude and Phanpy
Trained a little those two
Defeated trainers of routes 30 aand 31
Arrived Violet City
Defeated Falkner
Defeated all the Sprout Tower
Waited for a wopper on Dark Cave.. (Sigh.. Im BORED)
Arrived Azalea Town

ThwackX's G/S/C Monotype Challenge: Gold: Rock-Type: FINAL UPDATE

Lots and lots of level grinding. All my pokemon were at Lv70 and Red was actually easy.

- I send out Graveler vs Pikachu coz of the immunity and Graveler would be able to build Rollout power to sweep thru Pikachu, Espeon and Venusaur.
- Blastoise easily defeats Graveler with surf
- I send out Corsola with its unweakness to water. It took 3/4 of Blastoises HP.
- I send out Tyranitar ( Yes, i caught a Larvitar in Mt Silver :) ) Finishes off Blastoise
- Tyranitar defeats Snorlax with Earthquake spam
- Red sends Charizard, i send Sudowoodo, Rock Slided the Charizard, owned it.
- And i win :)

Update:

Have got 6 badges now.
Bred Bayleef with Oddish to get Oddish with Razor Leaf and Synthesis.
Team: Bayleef/Oddish/Oddish
Beat 3rd and 4th gyms, catching exeggcute and evolved Oddish #1 (the one without Razor leaf) into Gloom, and Oddish #2 into Gloom, then into Bellosom.
Caught Hoppip, due to Urwald's suggestion. Is hard to raise at the moment.
Team is below 30 at point of beating Jasmine, but I wont be catching any more, and may drop a pokemon, depending on how they progress.
 
I will not be there next week, so don't be surprised when the first post doesn't get updated.

@ ThwackX: Congratulations for winning and catching the 3rd shiny of this thread. Sadly the first one that cannot be used....

@ BebbZ: If you want to drop something, I suggest Bellossom, Meganium seems like the better pure grass type to me.

@ Urwaldbewohner: Ghost Gym with normal type shouldn't be that hard, for example a Raticate or Furret with Dig should beat it without any problems.

I'll have to drop either Exeggcute or Gloom though, because there's only 1 leaf stone to get. And I doubt a non-fully evolved pokemon will survive a single attack by Red.

I somehow managed to survive my skiing holidays, so I'm back and updated the first post again.

@ Green20: Pretty much like this: You use Onix and later Scyther for the first parts of the game. When you reach Ecruteak, you can catch Magnemites there, they have a 5% chance to hold a Metal Coat with which you can evolve them.
If you can't trade, it would be OK to solo with Onix until you get Magnemite.
 
Ok, I've been busy for most of the week, so updating now.

Beat team rocket in Goldenrod.
Ditched Gloom and Bellosom.
Beat Claire (the rest of the gym was tough, Claire was easy).
Made it to E4 (Only tough guy is Lance's Charizard).
 
This looks like fun, I gotta ton of time to kill so I'll give it a try. I'll be using dark types.

I would like to join. I use bug in Gold Version.

- Took Cyndaquil as Starter
- Fought the Rival. I call him Silver.
- Catched a Caterpie
- Catched another Caterpie. (The 1st was lv.3, this is lv. 4)
- Deposited 1st Caterpie and Cyndaquil
- Evolved Caterpie into Metapod (Metapod's Backsprite in Gold is Scary and Ugly, Mamma mia!)
- Evolved Metapod into Butterfree (I was so happy!)
- Arrived at Violet City
- Met Silver in Sprout Tower
- Battled the Sage and receveid the HM05
- Won againts Falkner (Valerio) at first match! I taught it was more difficult, but he was very easy!

Ok, my grass run isn't going so well and it's kind of boring so I am going to try it again from the start some time.

Going to do a quick flying-type run.

Caught pidgey.
Beat falkner with pidgeotto.
Thrashed bugsy.
Beat 3rd gym leader (always forget her name)
Realised I couldn't catch a scyther 'til tuesday, so caught a zubat.
Zubat evolved into Golbat, so did Pidgeotto into Pidgeot.
Beat Morty.
Caught Mantine.
Beat 5th and 7th gyms and team rocket in mahogany.
Beat Jasmine with Mantine.
Ditched Mantine.
Beat radio tower, pt 1.
Caught Skarmory.
finished radio tower.
Beat Claire.
Beat E4 second try. (Too many flying-beating moves on thoe dragonits)
Beat Kanto (Surge managed to beat me once. Magnetons are tough).
beat Red.
