Speculation Galar Region Anime Discussion

With the way things are looking for Galar and pokemon SwSh right now regarding the pokemon community's response to all the bullshit Game Freak has pulled, it may well be another situation where the Anime does better than the games. Sort of how XY games didn't really hold up that well, but the anime was great. Maybe the creators of the Anime will see all the backlash regarding the games and give more effort into creating a better anime. Although what I really hope they don't do is take the rivals from the game. I seriously cannot handle another smily-all-the-fucking-time rival without any tension.

i mean. maybe we'll get something like DP and they make a rival and then still have the game rival as a secondary rival like that did Barry. I suppose it depends on what they think the rival for the game will do for Ash when it comes to storyline purposes.

I think that we could wait and see who will become a companion. There will most likely be a more companion-appropriate Gym Leader yet to be revealed.

If the writers have ran out of their own ideas for their own production of Sword and Shield anime series, do you think that they move onto the alternate continuity from the main anime, or do you think that they're all done with the production of that anime? Well do you want the series to develop an alternate continuity? Seems like many people do since they're tired of Ash, but I don't think the Shield & Sword saga will be that much different from the Alola saga tbh.

I highly doubt that the Sword & Shield saga will be like Sun & Moon.

I am hoping that Ash gets an Eeveelution, because he always seems interested, but never gets an Eevee.

I am also hoping for an intelligent and responsible side character like Brock to tag along because too much childish behavior is too much.

I am hoping that there would be a new character to join team Rocket, too. they need.... something. Maybe it can be an annoying niece of Giovani or something...

Brock's girl obsession was what balanced out his intellect and father/Big Brother persona to be an appealing character. Tracy couldn't meet that profile, Cilan couldn't fit the profile, and even combinations of Clement and Bonny couldn't fit that profile... and forget Alola... characters were not great at all.

Bewear is a great addition to TR, but I don't see it staying, so I thought a new member would change up a dead attraction in that character group. While Jessie always being interested in whatever competition was great, but without it, team rocket is nothing but nostalgic extra. If there is not something for Jessie like contests, then we need something new.

Eevee is going to be a part of interest to keep the Let's go games popular and reimpose interest in the gen 1 pokemon. There is bound to be a new Eeveelution, which is something wildly desired by pokemon fans, so sorry to disappoint... that is why I want Ash to have one. His rival Gary Oak had one and I would love to see Gary come back and them have a battle between their Eeveelutions.

I don't mean to sound argumentative, but I wanted to at least explain my interest.

They just confirmed several new characters today, including two new Gym Leaders: the Fighting-type specialist Bea and the Ghost-type specialist Allister.

I think that Bea and Allister would be interesting companions because they are so different from the other companions in past series.

Out of Allister and Bea i would lean towards Bea being a more compatible companion. Though i am curious if they're going to do the multiple gym leaders like how they kiiinda did it in BW. Best bet would see them outside of their city so Ash cant outright challenge them like he normally does hahah.

Fair point. It remains to be seen how all encompassing the current outrage is, and if its a vocal minority or broader discontent with GF.

But regardless, I think that TPCI has really struggled to grow up with its fanbase, and its constant pandering to the Japanese youth, rather than recognizing and supporting its more mature international audience will end up resulting in an poor anime.

Children follow hype, and have short attention spans. If the game fails to garner broad interest in the series, I think that the anime will instead shift to a more mature tone, knowing that its older audience will remain, even when younger players disappear, much like the tonal shift of XY as it became clear that the games were unpopular.

I really hope than they go back to the more polished and angular style, and remove the ever-present, intrusive and poorly written comedy relief characters like the rotom-dex. I think that these changes will alone improve the quality of the anime, even if they make no changes to the story formula of past series',

But he barely looks human. Also he has wayyyyy too much going on in his design; it looks like he robbed a Hot Topic store. What is it with all of the new Gym Leaders having so many accessories on their bodies? It's just getting kinda ridiculous imo. Sometimes less is more...

Simply for the sake of animation turnover, I find it highly unlikely for them to include such complex character designs prominently within the series.

I hope that the series returns to the old formula of using the game protagonist.

Everyone I know that i personally speak about the anime to loves rotom-dex so what older audiences are looking for really doesnt always point to "mature". I'm one of them that simply love things like pokemon interactions and the last time the anime went "dark" i actually wasnt a fan because it felt they threw those interactions out the window.

Galar can go either way especially since we haven't seen any details yet but i won't mind if it stays lighthearted in nature overall.

Besides, the overall tone aside SM touched on some pretty deep topics throughout so the anime doesn't have to be "dark" to touch on things like death and the whole guzzlord arc. There was actually a tweet i saw the other day that explained this pretty well maybe I'll find it and post it here since i think it explains things better than i can.

But why... The newest Shield & Sword information pertains to the games, not the anime. If this thread is inactive, then it just means that people aren't that interested in what has been revealed since again, none of the information that we have so far is about the Shield & Sword anime series. These "updates" that you keep posting in this thread and in the Alola League topic just feel needless since everyone here already follows what's happening in the anime; most of us just have nothing to say about it.
