As you know Nintendo got rid of the 'Game Corner' slot style thing
and replaced it with Voltorb flips.
Apprently they claimed the slot 'promoted gambling'. Which kinda was the purpose in R/B/Y Team Rocket made a place for people to gamble in a cheap way for money.

    Either way:

Not sure how they did this. (didnt wait to find out).
I think it was japan only some guy did it on a america rom. (save stating).

    But what are your thoughts?
Should they have kept the slot corner.

It's not a beta and it's likely not a rom. It looks like just a Japanese Heart Gold and an English Soul Silver :\. The traditional Game Corner was there in the Japanese versions of HGSS. It was replaced with the Voltorb Flip for the international releases.

But yeah, if anything, the Game Corner taught me that gambling was bad since I would almost always end up losing money. It's easier to just buy the coins.

Uuugh! Pokemon and their "beliefs" its getting a bit tiring already. I loved the slot machines ever since the good old days of RBY. I was a lucky one, won a lot of coins for the most part. There are many games that are rated "E" that involve "gambling". They should have kept the gambling in the game to teach kids a lesson so when it comes to the real world, they will think twice on how much they should gamble with or to do it at all

The slot machines were indeed in the Japanese version and were quite fun to play as well - not perfect but enjoyable. However you can blame European gambling laws which applies to games (and initially affected Platinum) and game rating companies/people in America who would have put HGSS with a considerably higher rating if they did not remove the slot machines game. Case in point - the slot machines earnt D/P or Platinum (or both, I do not recall) a higher rating than previous Pokemon titles in Australia, but the rating in this senerio would have been much higher than the G+8 it got in that case iirc. So instead we all got the same game and got voltorb flip - Game Freak/Nintendo didn't really want to risk sales and whatnot just to keep that in I suppose and hence did not have much of a choice.

Not that bad considering what many Europeans got with slot machines in Platinum (press A to get a small number of coins! No game, just pressing A!) so it's better than that by far, and many prefer voltorb flip anyway. Another another positive way that it maybe helped the release dates between America/Australia/Europe with HGSS stay within 2 or so weeks of each other which at the time was amazing because before that there delay between countries was greater than a month. But...well, what can one do? Blame the 'GAMBLING IS EVILLLL!!!1!' people.

I hated the original Game Corner but I looooooved Voltorb Flip. At least Voltorb Flip had a lot of strategy to it; to me, even if I felt like I was 100% on time, I was a tad off and almost never won. It was just frustrating and I honestly hate luck games, and most gambling games. But Voltorb Flip is fuuuuunfunfun. c:

Actually, it depends on the machine you are on, they all have different odds. Whenever I get to a slot machine I usually win up to 9999 in coins from the original 50 I get because I really like free stuff. It's especially easy in FR/LG but the slots in 4th gen are usually too boring for me to bother with them anyway.

    Voltorb flip just infuriated me.

I actually liked the Voltorb flip. It was reliant more on skill than on luck. Maybe that's just because I like puzzle games. However, I always stop and gamble in a game with slots whenever I get to the town with the casino.

I was okay with the game corner. But it was easier just to buy coins than play the Voltorb Flip.

I quite liked the Game Corner in every other game. Voltorb Flip is just annoying to play...
