5th Gen Game Corner

I haven't played Voltorb flip yet (I still haven't got HGSS annoyingly). But I think thy could get around the new laws by replacing the slots with those penny push machines you get in arcades. I mean those are played by everyone for like; 2-80 years old, so I don't see why it should need to be censored.

If you're wondering what I'm on about I mean one of these:

Spoiler:

I would love GameFreak so much if they put one of those in! Those things are addictive, and it would be awesome to make Pokémon themed versions!

You know how sometimes there are, like, keyrings or toys in there that have the chance of falling down too? Well, maybe there could be potions or Pokédolls, and perhaps the odd TM on big wins?

Yeah, that woudn't be a bad idea actually :P

Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald's Game Corner's were awesome, so many choices, and it was definitely addicting when you played! Now, the problem with the Game Corner's in R/S/E is that you couldn't win Pokemon! I would like to see that happen.

Since I must be the only person alive who loves Voltorb Flip and has got over 20,000 coins playing that addictive mini-game, I hope they bring it back, although I'd actually want them to introduce a completely different mini-game as well. Variety is always good!

And chances of the slot machines coming back: 0% as long as the EU doesn't remove that law. Something I can't see happening in a foreseeable future.

This! I love love love Voltorb Flip! I've been hanging around Goldenrod for the past week so I can keep going back and playing some more! I've gotten to about 15,000 coins altogether so far. It so easy once you figure out the math!

I just hope that if they can't bring the slots back in the US then they will come up with something better than voltorb flip because winning coins on that is too hard especially when you can't just buy them anymore.

If the ESRB even TOUCHES Isshu's slot machines and replaces it with Voltorb Sh*t, I am gonna, well, let's hope I dont, but you know what I think of Voltorb Flip:

I HATE VOLTORB
I HATE MINESWEEPER
I HATE VOLTORB FLIP
IT'S TOO F***ING HARD
ESRB RUINED MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!

Maybe Issu will not have slots at all and have an arcade instead with Pokemon-ified versions of classic arcade games like Mario Bros. Donkey Kong, Pac-Man (you missed Google Pac-Man, it was fun) and Space invaders, but knowing NOA, they will probably think it's the slots and replace it with Voltorb Flip (albeit it's the same one from HG/SS with the same map and same NPC's with the same dialouge) even though Voltorb (which I think, along with Electrode, is the most unoriginal idea for a Pokemon ever) may not even be in the Isshu Pokedex, Face it, America is never going to see the slots again thanks to ESRB (I hate them anymore for what they did to my childhood)

Voltorb Flip is too hard, and it does'nt give much coins, the slots were so much easier and give out 5 times more coins, but the ESRB does not care, they just want to make a very difficult mini-game out of the once-was slots, I just want a Porygon damnit!!!
The removal of the slot machines in HeartGold and SoulSilver was due to an EU anti-gambling law not an ESRB decision. I think there is a 97% chance that it will be butchered in the international version, a 1% chance it is also butchered in the Japanese version, a 1% chane it is preserved in the United States but butchered in the EU, and 1% chance it will be preserved even in the EU to garner a higher rating. The reason they may go for the higher rating is to attract an older demographic.

IF Game Freak manages to bypass the EU regulation on gambling (or screws them over like they did in D/P/Pt), maybe restoring the slots + Voltorb Flip + the roulette from R/S/E + Pokémon-ified versions of classic arcade games. For the EU releases, just remove the slots and the roulette.

Let's face it, if the entire region is in full 3D, then surely there's enough space on the game card to fit a few extra minigames.

What's kind of sad about this is most people hate Voltorb Flip simply because they don't know how to play it. It's simple addition on a grid!

Slots are boring. Voltorb Flip actually requires you to use your brain for a little while and it's really easy to win when you calm down and think logically. Rather than sit there with my DS in my hand and press a button to pull the lever every few seconds. Talk about a snoozefest.

I would like to see this game come back with a couple other interactive games that actually require a brain. I realize most of you love Pokèmon because of the mindlessness, but it doesn't hurt to think every once-in-a-while. ;)

Anything but the Voltorb flip. I played it, got my Dratini then never touched it again. It's easy when you think, but boring as all heck.

I did the same. :o The suspense in the game was fun at first but then it got old pretty fast. For the new game corner, I hope they include Voltorb Flip and some other arcade games for variety.

anyone up for pokemon pinball? another round of screen-headbutting on the house lol... i honestly like the idea, but if they put in a mini pokemon pinball there are going to be screen-repairs worldwide.

I actually like the voltorb Flip better than the slot machines. It's a lot easier to win big once you start thinking analytically. XD

However, I do think it also sucks all the fun out of it. D:

I saw a suggestion a while back. I can't remember who said it, but they basically said that if GameFreak wises up to the fact that slot machines are being taken out if international releases, they should try to overhaul the game corner in GenV to be more universally appropriate. The suggestion that followed was to turn the game corner into an arcade, with pokemon themed minigames based off arcade classics like Space Invader, Galaga, Breakout, Centipede, Donkey Kong, Missile Defense, etc. I think it could appeal to western censors and be quite a bit of fun. :D

This.
This so much.
As Masterge said, we could have PACMAN. Of course, it would be changed to Munchlax, and considering he's a normal type, it would make sense that he couldn't eat the ghosts (shuppets?) until after eating big white circles.
And as Smoochum said, Whack-a-Diglett. Centipede: caterpie, or a new centipede pokemon from gen 5. Breakout/Pong could use Hariyama's hands as platforms.

I never liked the slot machines. I haven't played HG/SS yet, so I can't say anything about Voltorb Flip. However, I would like there to be a variety of mini-games in the Game Corner, possibly like the ones from Platinum's Wi-Fi Plaza.

Most of the censorship they've done in international releases (removing religious symbols, adding extra clothing to some people, different skinned Jynx, changing Registeel pose, etc.) have been changed for the Japanese versions in remakes and new versions. So I think the 1% for in Japan too is more than a 1% chance.

Maybe, just maybe they're going to revert back to giving Pokemon away as apposed to giving away TM's and such.

Slot Machines are boring, Voltorb Flip is boring, and the mini-games in the Stadium series were freakin' awesome.

I'm really hoping they won't pull out the slot machines in the NA release like they did for SS/HG...course for this to even apply they'd have to put them in Black and White jap release to begin with...oh gods I hope they don't pull the whole slot machines concept right out of Pokemon >_<

We'll get the Voltorb Flip again (I can sense it, but probably with a new Pokemon) and some other minigame addititions which make no reference to gambling.
I'm in the middle anywyas. Just do what you can !

i despise voltorb flip with a very, very, strong passion. The 3rd gen had the greatest game corner ever!!! i would sometimes play emerald just to go there. i hope gen five gives it back.
