4th Gen Game Corners are not available in European Platinum

The Game Corner was always and still will be highly confusing. It's understandable why they took it out but, why not just take out the whole Game Corner and replace it with some mini games or something?

To replace it with mini games would be a great idea. I guess they didn't really think about that but who knows. They might as well just make the GS remake without a Game Corner for them but instead mini games. I say that because since we know there is not going to be anymore Sinnoh journies, they could put it in the GS remake. If the GS remake has the Game Corner still, then there was really no point in not letting you play it in Platinum.

I can't understand where Nintendo is coming with this.. What the hell is their problem with the Game Corner ? It was on the original game..

Acording to here :https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Veilstone_Game_Corner

you can buy tm explosion now on the Eu versions of platinum cause the lack of slot playing, and its true that you cant play there I just tried it and the machines wont work

Oh, well at least you can still get the TM. Though I still think it was kind of silly to do that. On another thought at least the EU people still have Diamond and Pearl to buy or if they already have it, to play the Game Corner on that instead. I wonder if EU did that to raise the sales of Diamond and Pearl? It could be a possibility.

Well if you keep downloading the games, you've no right to complain. If anything, your encouraging them to do a half ass Job because they may scale back on funding because alot of people are resorting to piracy.

Until you fairly put your money where your mouth is and buy the game, your at no inconvinience and therefore have no right to complain.

Wait, half job what? They only have to translate it, if they are editing then they are more than certainly putting some effort in. ;P

That was in reference to the statement in their post that they fear they remove these features from future versions and maybe the Japanese one. I wasnt commented on just the european translation.

Nintendo finally responded to my email. And I didnt think they could talk in such a demeaning way, they totally ignored my previous statement of how even though you can find the coins, it inspires another wrong message and even if it didnt, its hardly any compensation for the fact that the prizes havent had their cost twigged.

"In Pokémon Platinum Version, the slot machines in the Game Corner cannot be operated by the player, to comply with PEGI age rating guidelines concerning gambling. Players can still get coins to exchange for items, simply by checking the slot machines or from the Game Corner counter."

Consumers may be confused because they think there is no way to win coins, without the slot machines. However the coins can simply be found by searching in the Game Corner.

Thank you, but I know that. I wonder if they realise the basic concept of Pokemon is gambling and you gamble with every battle? You can win money, but if you lose, half your cash goes as your bet. Ooh I should really hush my mouth regarding this one ;)

I like the Mauville Game Corner best. At least it has 2 games. Thankfully, you can still get coins.

Ahhh I misread. Sorry

Hmm I suppose in Europe winning money off other people is more acceptable. 'ha

I'd almost shell out the 50 euro to go and check the scratch cards (:P)... I'm happy I have the American version now.
What I still don't get is that Pokémon Europe couldn't of just upped the age rating (the game is 3+ but I have yet to see a three-year-old play it!) It is kind of sly, but I have yet to see a person (less perhaps myself as I don't play that many games) that follows them.
I'm more worried about eight year olds playing eighteen plus games (what is with this culture of shooting everyone?!) than scary coins.

They are trying to say it's underage as you see Looker playing on it in my Platinum and i'm from the UK aswell, Looker is around 30-40 years old and it is legal for him but you're trainer is around 10-13 years old and it is illegal so Nintendo has been told about the illegal rights about gambling in the United Kingdom so Nintendo must of took them out.

HG/SS may have a high chance of the game corner being unusable aswell, i beg to differ about some people saying politics stopped them, if you read this fully correctly, reply please.

With Nintendo's official response to this, start seeing it as a Europe thing.

Keep Gambling, and PEGI will require a 12+ rating. Sad, isn't it?

12+ rating? That really is sad. Wasn't Diamond, Pearl and Platinum E for Everyone?

The Game Corner has been around for so many years in the pokemon games. Now they decide to not let people play it? They should've thought about it in the beginning and decide to leave it out or something like that.

Did these things occured in the past Pokemon games?
I think you could ask Nintendo for confirming...
'Cuz maybe it's just a glitch...

It is not a glitch because Europe literally did remove the access to the Game Corner games. It never happened before, only in Platinum.

Actually I didn't see any problem in the Game Corner...
The game corner in Pokemon games, looked like a "kids' play" to me more than gambling...
It's lame that Nintendo have became so stupid...
Maybe in the further generations of Pokemon games...
There might be a possibilty - NO MORE GAME CORNER!!!!!

Hahaha~ I just read the other previous replies...
And I found out that...

I think this is the best answer:

Awesome. I had my doubts, but I guess it's time for me to get a second foreign game to my collection.
I don't know what they are thinking about, really.

So what if it was 12+ (heh, ironic, as you play as a ten year old). Ratings are (unfortunately or otherwise) are always ignored.

I have to agree with you on this. Though I must say, it doesn't matter what age limit they put it as. If the parents decide that the game is not for their kid then I guess they just won't get it. If they don't care about the age limit then it doesn't matter. I do feel sorry for those people who cannot get the games because of the age limit. The Game Corner shouldn't even be compared to real life gambling. The Game Corner is actually way more childish in my opinion.

Maybe in HGSS they could replace the fruit machines with those coin pushers you see in holiday resorts, I mean about 97% of the people who play on those are about 6 so I mean why not, it would add more chance to actually winning and make a more random winnable amount. (for those who don't know what I'm on about, I mean these :https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8e/Arcade_Coin_Pusher,_detail.jpg)

cmon thats absurd... and as next? im frightened of gengar, because its dubious smile makes me thinking that its horny and pervert and wants more of me ... now gengar must removed from the game! im just joking but its the same aspect.. that change is just silly

You do make a good point. However I know it's just an example, they would not remove a pokemon because then another pokemon would have to replace the pokedex number for Gengar, and that could cause some compatibility issues.

Anyways, at least the American Release still has the Game Corner available to play. It does seem silly because for the people who really do like the Game Corner, would have to waste their money again on the American Release (unless they didn't buy Platinum yet) to be able to play in the Game Corner. Unless of course, they could use Action Replay to be able to play it again or to simply just cheat their way into getting coins.
