Game Length

I think the main story is good, but there needs to be more side activities because completing the gameplay starts to fell monotonous after a while

I like it to be long but I also like it to be enjoyable. If it was drawn out and boring then there would be no point but if the story was fun and interesting and keeps me playing then it can be as long as the game designers want.

I'm content with the length the current games are now - while some people don't like the fact that the more recent games have such short gaps between Gyms and such, I think it's nice to basically be able to go at your own pace. Platinum did have pretty good pacing though, so if the next region had something like that i'm sure it would make for a more broad adventure.

I generally take 20 to 30 hours beating a Pokémon game. Then there's the postgame.

The games are as long as you make them be. You can easily skip everything and go for the badges and Champion, or you can take your time and explore. I tend to do everything possible before the E4, but I'm not much of an explorer.

I usually don't explore much in my first run of games, and follow everything accordingly event-by-event, which could possibly explain why I get done with them so quickly. If I happen to restart afterward, though, then would I take time exploring. Looking through locations could definitely be fun, but why I'm sort of afraid to do such things in my initial runs is because I feel that, if I take too much time, I'd wind up forgetting story-events that have occurred, which would cause me to feel confused and whatnot.
