I've long felt that if garbage like me can make it through multiple Souls games multiple times then most people should be able to, but your first playthrough of any Souls game, especially your first Souls game, is usually the hardest. I think I died like 20 times just getting from the start of Dark Souls 1 to the first bonfire in Undead Burg the very first time I played DS1.Also the Demon Souls franchise. I have tried Dark Souls and Bloodbourne and, I don't know if I didn't play long enough to understand the combat fully or min-max my characters, but I haven't gotten very far in either game.
A lot of it will come from just not knowing where all the traps and ambushes are and how to deal with the bosses and certain other enemies. Once you've made it through everything for the first time, it gets noticeably better since you have that experience to aid you. You do also have to learn a little bit about the game mechanics a bit, and allocating your stats properly is important too.
