Okay so here's the deal, I have taught my adamant natured Garchomp the move Fire Blast but I am slowly learning that that may be a mistake.

I def. want a fire move in his set so would Fire Fang be a better choice?

    Give me yall's thoughts.

    Thanks,
    brandon

Fire Fang only hurts Skarmory if you have a Swords Dance on your belt, and it still won't OHKO.

FireBlast is a very powerful move, but its a little risky using because it only hits about half the time. If you're the type of person that likes powerhouse moves, than keep it, but I'd suggest Flamethrower, since its the only other Fire move as far as TMs go that it can learn. (besides Sunny Day, but that's not going to help much) Like Midnight Winged says, Fire Fang won't do much good for powerful attacks, so my suggestion would be Flamethrower. Its strong, but not as likely to miss.
If anyone disagrees with me, than please say something, because I'm sort of new at this rating stuff. O_o

    3 sets to choose from

    Garchomp@Life Orb
    Jolly/Hasty nature
    252 ATT / 252 SPEED /6 HP
    - Fire Blast /Fire Fang
    - Swords Dance
    - Earthquake
    - Dragon Claw

    Standard

    OR

    Garchomp@Choice Scarf

    252 ATT / 224 SPEED/ 32 Def or Sp.Def
    - Fire Blast
    - Stone Edge
    - Outrage

Choice Scarf Revenge kill, reaches 444 speed w/choice scarf. Outrage for late game sweeps. Simple to use, 1. take out steels w/ fire Blast and Physical walls 2. Set up Stealth Rock so focus sash users dot laugh at you 4. Outrage the hell out of whats left.

    OR

    Garchomp@Life Orb
    Naughty Nature
    16 Att / 240 Speed / 252 SP.ATT
    - Draco meteor
    - Earthquake
    - Fire Blast
    - Swords Dance

Chain Chomp, Swords dance lures out physical walls, whom eat a Life Orb'd Draco meteor or Fire Blast Respectively. After a Swords Dance Earthquake kills Blissey.

Fire Blast is pretty much needed. It takes down Skarmory like its a Dunsparce. Fire Fang wont do as much havoc wreaking.

Fire Fang for Bronzong (And Wondertomb :O), Fire Blast for Skarmory. Fire Fang also hurts Skarmory after a Swords Dance or two.

    Garchomp@Wide Lens
    Mild
    252spd/ 132spatk/ 128atk
    Fire Blast
    Dragon Rush
    Stone Edge
    EQ

That's the Garchomp I currently use. Fire Blast for Anti-Skarm and the rest just for massive pwnage and I stuck a Wide Lens on it b/c I hate low accuracy moves.

but it's just my Garchomp's special attack is 88 @ level 53, his attack's at 179, that's why i was asking; fire fang's power is half of that of fire blast but fire fang is physical while fire blast is special and his special attack is for the most part obsolete.

same thing with draco meteor, it's strong but it doesnt do much because of his low special attack, so i was think dragon rush instead.

Yes, you are the most newbish. Thats a horrid set. Plus MILD?!?! C'mon!

    Fire Blast/Fire Fang
    Earthquake
    Dragon Claw
    Swords Dance/Stone Edge

You get onto me for putting Mild and don't post a suggestion ooook.

Yes his spatk is kinda low but if a physical wall pops up and all you have is physical moves you're toast.

Read my previous post, Draco meteor and Fire Blast do more to physical walls, that set you are are refering to is chain chomp and takes out both special and physical walls.

Either that or use of of the other sets i posted due to them being standard, as in Adamant isnt a good for Nature for Garchomp.

I'm using Garchomp on shoddy at the minute with great success:

    Garchomp @ Life Orb
    Trait: Sand Stream
    EV: 6 HP / 252 Att / 252 Speed
    Nature: Jolly
    Swords Dance
    Earthquake
    Dragon Claw
    Fire Fang

After a Swords Dance or two, Fire Fang really starts to hurt things, I'm starting to love this over Fire Blast at least on Garchomp

Sadly, skarm can roar you away, though you'd be able to power up and hammer it with one strong fire fang I suppose. Haven't seen a physical chomp in awhile.

    Fire Blast over Fire Fang.

The reason that your Fire Blast isn't working well is that you have an Adamant Natured Garchomp. Adamant will decrease Special Attack and thus resulting in a weaker Fire Blast.

If you have an ability like Naive, then Garchomp with Fire Blast will work out fine.

Also, beware that Garchomp has a beneficial Speed Nature. Its Speed Stat is somewhat low compared to most sweepers and needs the extra Speed boost to be effective

Who's it gonna outspeed? I mean, even with the speed boost, it won't be able to outsweep much...I mean, might as well beef up its attack. EDIT: fire blast is basically for steelix, forry, and(or course), skarm. Fire blast works fine with a -SAtk nature, for me anyways.

After one Swords Dance, Garchomp is doing this to Skarmory:

    Jolly nature: Damage: 63.77% - 74.85%
    Adamant nature: Damage: 69.76% - 82.04%

which is either gonna force Skarm to switch or Roost, if it can depending on what it Roared on your team. So yeah, I'm saying Skarm isn't gonna like to do that too often.

    Umm... Salamence?

SpecsMence is getting really popular and Garchomp needs to prepare for it.
