I'm new to the whole competetive battling and am currently working on an ev trained team. How is this for a Garchomp moveset?

    Garchomp @ Choice Band
    Physical Sweeper
    Nature : Adamant
    EVs: 255 ATK, 255 SPD
    - Crunch
    - Earthquake
    - Outrage
    - Fire Fang

Any suggestions to make this moveset better?

    Naive Nature
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 Sp Atk or HP

    -Stone Edge/Swords Dance/Crunch
    -Flamethrower/Fire Blast

that works good especially against skarmory, steelix, and other steel physical walls.

lol, Jolly + Fire Blast = fail.

    Garchomp@Life Orb
    Trait: Sand Veil
    Nature: Naive
    EVs: 228 Attack / 28 SAttack / 252 Speed
    - Fire Blast
    - Dragon Claw
    - Earthquake
    - Swords Dance

Swords Dance gives a better boost to Attack that Choice Band.

CBChomp is stronger right off the bat and and he put Choice Band on his, so he wants a CBChomp. How is Jolly+Fire Blast fail? It still does more to Skarmory and Forretress even with Jolly.

Jolly [+ Speed - SAtk] Well, its not complete fail but Naive in general would be better.

And so far, I haven't heard of a predicting clause. SDchomp is better.

Jolly and fire blast SO doesn't fail. My lovely adamant CBmence with no SAtk EVs packs quite a punch with fire blast, it needs almost no EVs, if any in SAtk.

I'm liking this for Garchomp lately:

    Garchomp @ Life Orb
    Trait: Sand Veil
    EV: 252 Att / 252 Speed / 6 HP
    Nature: Jolly
    Swords Dance
    Dragon Claw
    Earthquake
    Fire Fang

No, not Fire Blast. After one Swords Dance, you are doing an average of about 69% (I have the figures written down somewhere, too lazy to check) with Fire Fang, which is easily enough to make Skarm think twice about his next move. Obviously this OHKOs Forry/Scizor, puts a nice dent in Bronzong. EQ eats into those ScarfHeatran who thing they can be funny if you predict a switch in, Dragon Claw for general heavy damage against most other things, and does a nice number on the other dragons.

    Fire Blast Always.

    You send in chomp

    Opponent withdraws pokemon.

Opponent sends in Skarmory (Any GOOD skarmory user would do this)

you use Swords Dance on the switch or hell even Fire Fang on the switch

    Skarm: Yay

You use Fire Fang / Swords Dance next turn.

Skarm: YAY ! Roar / Whirlwind time.

    Now with Fire Blast

    You send in chomp

    Opponent withdraws pokemon.

Opponent sends in Skarmory (Any GOOD skarmory user would do this)

You use Fire BLAST on the switch in

Skarm: :( im 2hko'd so i dont have a chance to whirlwind you.

End of the day Fire Fang does squat to physical walls

I try to keep my Garchomp simple, and so far it works really well:

    Garchomp @ Life Orb
    Jolly: 252. atk, 252. spd, 6 Hp.
    Dragon Claw
    Earthquake
    Substitute
    Swords Dance

Dragon Claw and Earthquake can do neutral damage on almost every pokemon type out there... with the exception of skarmories (as an example) and other solid flying types.

one of the main things I do is try and get a sub up (if I know I can't 1hko or suspect a switch)... having the sub up gives me a chance to swords dance.... now with the 2.5 attack boost (you know what from what), I have swept entire teams that weren't prepared for such a vicious force.

The next Chomp I want to work on will still have a speed up nature, but I want to make it a mixed sweeper for that touch of Fire, mainly, and practically only, for Skarm counters.
