4th Gen Gardenia

I always manage to get off topic easily...

...but this has to be asked, since Milotic was brought up. I'm trying to get my Empoleon to look something like this...

Toxic
Aqua Ring
Protect
Surf

Unfortunately, Empoleon doesn't learn Aqua Ring as it levels up. And there isn't a TM for it...

...is there any other way I can get Aqua Ring on my Empoleon without breeding? God I hate breeding...

Since it's listed as an egg move, obviously not. So either suck it in and learn to get with the breeding like the rest of the serious trainers, or forget about Aqua Ring.

*AAAH! The Bird! I forgot... I was thinkin of Fire and Ponyta...*
Oh well, yeh, Staraptor is pretty good for e4 aswell. You can keep as a long-life pokmeon.

Yeah, rough...I'm actually sorta-kinda trying to get into the Pokemon metagame, or atleast create a somewhat competent team.

Staraptor can be a good sweeper if you know how to raise it, which doesn't seem to be the case. Regardless, Staraptor's a keeper for someone starting out.

true
but if that first attack doesn't make the opponent faint or the attack misses
then with staraptors poor defense it 'll get toasted
but i do have one

Grass Pokemon are weak to Flying, and Staraptor's got good attack and speed. A keeper, if only for sweeping Gardenia. You check if it's happy enough by levelling it up, obviously. But seriously, sack Budew and Buneary. Roserade and Lopunny aren't particularly worth using.

there is this footprint guy in the a little farther in the game that tells happiness i think. there is also a function on your watch that you get from some one in a pokecenter that tells happiness with hearts
but the team you have isn't the greatest at this point

BTW, "a better trainer?" By willingly using weak Pokemon? No. Quite the contrary. It makes you weak to use weak Pokemon.

Sack Clefable. Blissey does the same thing, but way better. And again, sack Lopunny. It's only good for weird item-based tactics.
