So I've been dabbling in competitive play for only a little while (outside of random battles with random teams), and I've really been wanting to get a team kick started for myself but am having trouble figuring out what to use or how to go about doing it. My main focus is definitely Mega-Gardevoir. She's my fave and will probably be used in just about every single team I make, but I guess I need a way to help support her, and how to make it where I don't need to rely solely on her.
I guess my favorite kind of Pokemon would be the bulkier types, and while I LOVE bulky Pokemon, they don't always do so hot against other bulky Pokemon or Pokemon with huge offensive abilities, so I need some advice on how to fix that for myself, as well.
->
Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 72 HP / 252 SAtk / 184 Spd
Timid Nature
- Echoed Voice
- Hyper Voice
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
She's a little gimmicky I know, but that's somewhat the point, I guess. Come in on something she can take (special attacker or some kinda wall/Stealth Rock user) and set up a Sub, and then go to town with either Hyper Voice and Shadow Ball. Hopefully, at some point start in with Echoed Voice, and hopefully it's the first time around. Echoed Voice starts off at 40 BP, then next turn is at 80 BP, and then continues on and on doubling after each consecutive usage, capping out at 390 BP, without including boost from Pixilate and STAB. So while it takes a while, it can still wreck just about any and everything that walks in unprepared. This one is basically here to stay.
Slurpuff @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 8 SAtk / 248 Spd
Naive Nature
- Belly Drum
- Play Rough
- Return
- Flamethrower
A bit of a gimmick as well, I guess? Fast physical attacker with a Flamethrower for knocking down Ferrothorn and Aegislash a notch, Return being there for decent neutral coverage against anything not Steel, Ghost, or Rock type. It's an odd choice, but I do like it.
Goodra @ Leftovers
Ability: Gooey
EVs: 4 SDef / 252 HP / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature
- Dragon Pulse
- Substitute
- Fire Blast
- Infestation
I like weirdo sets, I guess. c':
But this is I've tested and is kinda neat. Switch into a Pokemon (maybe even a lead) and use Infestation, Sub, and then go to town with Dragon Pulse and Fire Blast. Good for Ferrothorn, able to tank most any special attacks, while keeping special attacker trapped with Infestation, yadda yadda. With trapping moves now doing 1/8 damage, it's pretty decent.
Aegislash @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Atk / 8 SAtk / 248 HP
Brave Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Iron Head
- Shadow Ball
- King's Shield
He isn't so much of a gimmick, but more for a super quick surprise. The usual Sneak and Iron Head and a little defensive play with Kings Shield, and then surprise with a Shadow Ball. I'm not so sure about Kings Shield, but I'm pretty set with him being a semi mixed attacker tbh. Base 150 in each stat lets him skip heavy investment in Special Attack and be able to comfortably get away with doing so. Brave nature to keep it's poor Sword Forme defenses as high as possible.
The next two I'm not even sure what I'm doing with. These are the two slots I'm having the absolute most trouble with, and really are entirely up for grabs for changing into completely different Pokemon if need be. Maybe even Gyarados? c:
Avalugg @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Avalanche
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Rest
Furfrou @ Leftovers
Ability: Fur Coat
EVs: 252 Def / 4 SDef / 252 HP
Impish Nature
- Cotton Guard
- U-turn
- Thunder Wave
- Return
ANY help or advice is beyond welcomed and much appreciated. <3
If possible I'd like to keep the bulk theme as lively as can be, but if needed to be sacrificed here and there that's fine with me.
