We don't have them for fun. It's for money of course. The Netherlands have a whole province, which is similar to a state the size of a county, that is on a huge gas bubble that makes us a lot of money. They pump it out and sell it, but it makes the land unstable, and it creates a lot of small earthquakes that make a lot of property damage. Not as bad as a natural earthquake though.
