With the virtual release of the Generation 1 games -Red, Blue, and Yellow versions- came news of being able to transfer Pokemon caught in these games to Sun/Moon via Pokèbank. We've had similar conversations in other forums before Sun/Moon were officially revealed so now that we have some concrete info and visuals, I want to ask: How do you think GenI Pokèmon will be used in Sun/Moon? Will their stats be updated (either with a formula or by random) to GenVII mechanics with an assigned gender, nature, ability, and EVs/IVs? Or will they keep their GenI mechanics as is? Will we be able to use them through the main story or only after completion? Can they be used anywhere, only online, or maybe just in a special facility? If their stats/typing weren't updated, could we (or would you like to) see them battle up-to-date Pokèmon (GenI Pikachi vs GenVII Pikachu) with some kind of identifier?

It will be interesting to see that's for sure.

I have no idea how they're planning to pull it off. What I'd expect is for the Pokemon caught on the eShop titles to be perfectly compatible with Sun/Moon in every way. As for natures it will probably just be randomly generated between the two available abilities to that Pokemon with the possibility of a Hidden ability showing up. I'm guessing the method to transport them over will be some sort of mechanic that gets unlocked after you've completed the storyline and received the National Dex similarly to how Pal Park was.

Personally I feel as though they'll only be available for transfer after the player has completed the main story of the game. From there, they'd possibly unlock some kind of transferring function with the opening of the National Dex (assuming it's not available before post game). From there, their missing bits will just be randomly generated. But it would be pretty cool if you could, let's say, play a mini game of sorts that'd give you a chance to sway the decision a bit in the direction you want.

Like the others said, the mechanics like gender, nature, ability etc. will likely be just randomly determined. But an item that changes natures? I'm not sure how that is going to work.

IVs can be reasonably copied by doubling each one and splitting Special into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def, EVs would need to either be reduced or (ideally) just reset because there wasn't a cap on maxing out all of your Stat EXPs like there are for EVs.
I think the Secret ID might be randomized or defaulted to some value and everything else will probably be generated from a random PID with the Hidden Ability always False. I'm not sure if they'll design it to never make a Pokemon into a shiny but I'd guess they would.

I guess anything that's missing will be generated based on what's currently existing for that specific Pokémon. It'd make sense if they tried to keep it as similar, because the jump between Gen 1 -> 6 is HUGE. I wonder what they'll actually end up doing.

I can't wait for Fissure Machamp though. get rekt

I'm pretty sure they'll keep their stats & abilities with the exception of the special attack & defense spilt and it should be good. They'll just put out an update for the Blue, Red, and Yellow games available on the 3DS
