Hi there! If you are a new member and wondering what the freaking heck is a Get-Together, you will know what it really is after you read this blog. I guarantee you that you will love it!
It's the 12th annual Get-Together and it starts in less than 24 hours! I'm not sure how everyone else on PC feels towards the GT, but honestly...I treat this as another convention for me. It's like a virtual convention held by the PokeCommunity. we "get-together" but we don't really get-together in real life. Just you, PC, your computer, and your internet connection...which you will have to rely on for the duration of the get-together.
This will be the fifth Get-Together I'm gonna participate, and the fifth year that I will be hosting one or two events. It's actually a lot of fun hosting events, but it's even more fun when you participate! The GT hosts have been working extremely hard in putting their events together, and with this year's theme being the Olympics, I'm pretty sure it's going to be epic!
who's team johto? because i'm team johto and every other region sucks so yeah JOHTO IS BEST REGION /shot
Anyways...
Get-Togethers here on PC are actually a GREAT opportunity to meet new people if you are someone who's looking for friends, especially those who have recently joined, or have returned after a super long absence. From my experience, I met people (and became friends with people) through friendly iSketch matches, competitive Team Fortress 2 battles, or simply letting yourself loose on group Skype calls. As the PokeCommunity is a friendly community where you are always accepted no matter what your background is, I'm positive that you will have a great time.
& don't hesitate to ask an event organizer or a staff member if you need any help with any of the events. We are always there.
If you're shy/introverted like me, don't be! Trust me, I worked so hard to get out of my own little world just to talk to people. But really...we don't bite at all. My recommendation for you, if you just joined, is to start with the Skype chat, then move on to the events that only require you to participate, like any gaming events and iSketch. Those are some of the loose events I can think of right now. If you are feeling really competitive, then I say go for the competitive events. No one's stopping ya!
Best of all, you will get prizes if you participate! Most events will be giving out emblems for your profile, others will give out supporter gift prizes, and more! It's just a token of participation from the hosts to you.
What are you waiting for? Once the doors open on July 6th, the fun begins. I'll be in the background running two events myself, so stop by and say hi as they open! See you guys around!~
