Two of my fave Pokémon here.. who do you think would win in a battle?

I think Gible would win. Don't ask me why, I just know.

Gible, as it is like my favorite non-legendary 4th Generation pokemon. Anyway it is natural when it evolves into Garchomp (which is classified as Uber) to beat Tyranitar. Although, if it was their first chain evolutions, It would be to tight for me to call.

I would actually say Tyranitar (i.e. Larvitar) as in my opinion Tyranitar has a better Moveset than Garchomp... Not to mention it can learn Blizzard/Surf etc which can totally stomp Garchomp. (it rhyms, hehe)
    :3
Although in saying that Garchomp has its strengths over Tyranitar.
It's a really tight decision here.

lavitar for me well because i think it is better :) and well isnt gibile evo garhtomp flying and lavitar and evos rock :?

just look at my sig/avitar ;)

Well, I think it would be Gible. I think it can learn some moves along the way to attack Larvitar

I won't go in detail, but judging by STAB Gible should win, its STAB Ground attacks are supereffective where Larvitar's would have their normal effectiveness.

    Gible Beats Larvitar with Earthquake
    Gabite Beats Pupitar with Earthquake
Garchomp Beats Tyranitar with Earthquake , it can also destroy it so easily with Brick Break thanks to the 4x fighting weakness

Horray for the Little Landshark XD

Even tought Larvitar is my favorite pokemon of all, I will have to say Gibble would be the strongest on this battle. But hey, all depends on how the trainer trains his larvitar! Maybe it can be stronger you know? Like ash and Pikachu owning everybody xD

Even the ground type Onix that Brock had with thundershock >__>

Well, I like Tyranitar more of the two, but their tiers in the metagame cannot be ignored. The superior speed stat of Garchomp can make quick work of Tyranitar with certain moves, although most Tyranitar wouldn't be going down without a struggle.
Not only that, but the gible line gets extra points for evolving much earlier than the other pokemon, but also for the second form actually being SIMILAR looking to the last one.
Is it too much to ask for a little consistency?

And Gible is more adorable, so...
    Gible>Larvitar

But but. I find Larvitar cuter :D Did you see that episode with the baby Larvitar ash hatched? Pure awesome! D:

    Bagon. :P

seriously, Garchomp is superior to Tyranitar statistically, but Tyranitar will always have the better design. :D

hmm...... gible is definately better stat-wise.......
And wouldn't tyranitar's sand stream just make blizzard even more inaccurate?
although Tyranitar gets a defense boost, so EQ and brick break wouldn't do so much......
I think Garchomp would win, but that's just cuz im biased and i really like dragons

I think Gible is such a cute Pokemon as well as Larvitar but I can't choose because they're both simply amazing, well I'm going to have to pick Larvitar because it begins with the letters "La" like me

    :t354:TG

Gible has a type advantage over Larvitar, and would most likely easily defeat it with Earthquake. :\ Larvitar, on the other hand, doesn't have a type advantage, so I think Gible would win. :)

However, by appearance, Larvitar defintely wins. :3

I guess everyone ignored me... A speed EV-ed Tyranitar with a Blizzard attack would knock out a Garchomp very easily... Just give it like a Passho berry [PokeCommunity.com] Gible vs. Larvitar to reduce supereffective water attacks, so that he survives the first surf, and you're all good.
    :3

    Wait, what?
There aren't much speed oriented Tyranitar, while Garchomp has plenty of those.
The only way Tyranitar would be superior in speed is if Garchomp had no EV's on it and/or had a hindering nature towards speed. I'm not even counting the fact that Tyranitar needs to have a beneficial nature AND max EV's put into his speed.
Tyranitar also has many weaknesses other than water, so he will have to rely on his bulkiness to help him in most cases. Don't forget that many Garchomp have a Yache berry equipped to reduce ice damage by 50%.
Maybe if Garchomp lacked both the Yache berry and speed EV's, then Tyranitar could take him out quickly, but otherwise, it will rely on other factors. But I digress.

Garchomp outruns easily and OHKOs with Earthquake (who doesn't run Earthquake on Chomp lol?).

Choice Band Garchomp's Earthquake vs max HP Tyranitar
    538 Atk vs 256 Def & 404 HP (100 Base Power): 452 - 534 (111.88% - 132.18%)

(without boosting item) Garchomp's Earthquake vs max HP Tyranitar
    359 Atk vs 256 Def & 404 HP (100 Base Power): 302 - 356 (74.75% - 88.12%)

Life Orb Garchomp's Earthquake vs max HP Tyranitar
    359 Atk vs 256 Def & 404 HP (100 Base Power): 390 - 462 (96.53% - 114.36%)

These are all with Jolly, so if it goes with Adamant, Tyranitar is dead. If Garchomp is holding Choice Scarf, Leftovers, etc then Tyranitar can survive and dent Garchomp with Crunch, but it won't KO iirc. Of course, if it's the rare TyraniBoah vs ScarfChomp, it can survive an Earthquake, and Ice Beam back for a OHKO. ;o
