Question: GIF Animated Avatars

I have a question.

How do I change my avatar to an animated GIF image, I tried changing my avatar and I uploaded a animated GIF image from my computer but when I checked my avatar, it wasn't animated. I also tried uploading from a URL but it still didn't work.
So what I'm asking is how do I use a animated GIF image for my avatar.
Oh and when I look at it on my computer it isn't animated but if I open it up in IE it is, so I'm a bit confused as to whats going on.

the gif file is probably bigger than the file size limit so you'll need to either resize it so it can work

Or the actual Dimensions of the Image are beyond 130x130, in which case, it will resize and lose the Animation.
