Pokemon Tactics: The Groudonian Wars
an RTS coming from the pokemon franchise.
Done in Game Maker
an RTS coming from the pokemon franchise.
Done in Game Maker
For all that don't know RTS stands for Real Time Strategy. These are the types of game like Age of Empires, Starcraft, Stronghold, and Kohan, but there are many more. Now, more Pokemon elites and what not maybe wondering "oi, is this bloke must be off his rocker?" but not to worry, I am fine. I think its a great idea and my system will make it work without a problem
Story:
The peaceful continent of Poketopia was in a state of relative calm after the continental wars versus the great and powerful Mewtwo. But now all is in a relative came. But a new tyrant is rising in the south! Groundon and his mass of followers overtake the peaceful continent of Poketopia, proclaiming He is successor to Mewtwo and is God. Will no one stand before this tyrant?
The Rebels of the Peaceful [better name eventually] come from there hiding to defend Poketopia. Will this prevail? Will you take the factions of Rebels side? Or will your hungry for power corrupt you with the path following Groudon? Or will you follow the neutral path, continuing to live in solitude as much as possible?
What will you choose?
Now going from the actual story, [which does not have all of the workings done to it] we will go to the RTS style engine that this tread is really going about:
Battle:
First off, most people want to know about the battle system. Too be honest, I don't know exactly what the battle system will be yet. There are some speculated idea for the final. I love the mob type battles of Stronghold, but love how tactical orientated Kohan used. I thought of an intermediate but we shall see (how starcraft is structured is pretty similar to the Mob-tactical that would be nice). Here are some diagrams on the whole thing:
Spoiler:
[diagrams of the systems up as soon as can this week. I have several projects and essays this week so possibly not this one]
Resources:
Next part that most would think would be terribly hard to come up with for a pokemon RTS would be resource. At first i was hitting a wall with a spoon at this too trying to figure out what would work for it. I first thought of the elemental stones, they're pretty ore like, but didn't quite fit. Then one of my friends that liked this idea and likes pokemon as well said the berries. I thought this was a good idea for a while but didn't quite stick as a center for resources. Then it hit me; the vitamins would be perfect. So that's how its going to be [Protein and carbos are going to interesting to come up with how you get them from a deposit (organic matter problem)]
Spoiler:
Oran Berries
Basically the currency of the region. Equated to Mineral crystals in Starcraft and gold in just about all other RTSs. Basic resource and easiest to gain access to in the beginning.
Healium (Hp Up)
Well I couldn't have a resource called Hp Up, that's not very ore sounding. One of the basic ores.
Protein
Picked up by more muscly pokemon and used to make strong macros.
Iron
Solid metal mined by the hard skined pokemon.
Calcium
Helps build strong bones and pwn enemy forces. Only taken away with strong spirited pokemon.
Zinc
The element of spiritual defense. Carried by the strong Willed.
Carbos
"Your too slow!"

Unit classification:
Spoiler:
Okay, drifting away from what most other RTS have this system has no set "worker" unit. Each Faction has 9 normal units that possess a certain job in the faction from at least the Basic level; some may lose this ability, while others may gain more help benefits. ALL other units in the faction serve as Auxiliary units, units that usually cost more than the normals but are stronger, have more useful abilities, and/or have special duties (e.g. Turret duty). ALL POKEMON within a faction are combat units, there are no special units that do fighting. All "workers" are combat units, not combat units are "workers." There are 9 positions, just stating a resource means it collects it: Berries, Healium, Protein, Iron, Calcium, Zinc, Carbos, Builder, Ruins Searcher.
The first 7 are self explanatory. Builder will be the unit that STARTS the creation of buildings and/or walls; any unit can help after the foundation is set. Ruins Searchers will look through caves, ruined buildings, and statues that are placed around the map for "technologies"/treasures, gold, and resources.

How the level and evolution system will work:
Spoiler:
![[PokeCommunity.com] [GM]Pokemon Tactics: The Groudonian Wars [PokeCommunity.com] [GM]Pokemon Tactics: The Groudonian Wars](https://i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy353/Ori-corp/diagramforPTonLvlandEvolution.png)
Pokemon continue with evolution paths as normal, whether it be by Level or what not. Others that have special things such as the Elemental stones, moves, or items will be covered above but they are still needed.
ALSO, all pokemon of one species family share total exp to be used towards "researching" abilities, moves, tactics, etc. Each is available to all pokemon in that family during or after the upgrade where is activated (e.g. Trapinch and family can get Arena Trap but Trapinch can not get Flamethrower or Dragon Pulse). Moves or abilities that would be accessed normally through a special mean (event, cross-breeding, TM) cost more experience than naturally learned abilities.
Experience System:
Spoiler:
Formula: Rup|Exp=((Pxp+LvlA)(LvlA/LvlB)/Fallies)|
wherein Exp equals experience gained, Pxp equals the set amount of exp. the one type of pokemon gives, LvlA equals opponents current level, LvlB equals the pokemon receiving the experiences current level, and Fallies equals the number of friendly units helping in the battle. Level caps at Lvl 100 as normal.
I know how I want the experience per level to be, I just need to make a Nice algorithm for it.
