Growlithe or Houndour?

Houndour. I mean it is part Dark and Fire. I also like the design of it slightly better than of Growlite.

Growlithe annoys me...mainly because of its' impossibility to capture (I always either KO it or it uses Roar), rarity (HeartGold is the only game I can ever get it on), and the fact that I generally don't like the design.

Houndoom and Arcanine are about equal for me. I love Arcanine's movepool, and Houndoom's ain't bad either. The designs are pretty cool too, and some of the backstory, like its' cries having been thought to be those of the Grim Reaper.

Houndour is better than Growlithe though. I got one on Emerald, spent ages trying to evolve it, then decided I preferred it how it was so reset the game and played on with it as a Houndour. I like the design over those of Houndoom, Growlithe and Arcanine, and it's generally pretty useful too.

Funny thing is that I'm not a fan of dogs...and sometimes I'm scared of them, although it varies. However I love dog pokémon.

I have to say Houndour for one reason: Dark.

Houndour has the added bonus of being invulnerable to psychic moves, and that gives it the edge in my opinion.

I prefer Houndour based on typing and appearance. I especially like its shiny form. However, I think that Arcanine looks better than Houndoom, and I like how it's more durable than Houndoom is.

Without even touching on their evolutions Houndour is easily my favorite of the two. That's not to say I have anything against Growlithe, it's just never appealed to me. Something about it is really boring and average. Houndour on the other hand is a very interesting Pokemon. I love its Dark/Fire type combination and its Doberman/hellhound basis.

My other reasoning for going with Houndour is that it really jumped out at me in the II generation. I remember the first time I saw one I had to catch it. Unfortunately from what I remember you couldn't catch one till after defeating the Elite Four. That was a huge disappointment. Needless to say Growlithe never jumped out at me. It was always just -there- next to Vulpix who I chose over Growlithe almost every time.

Growlithe annoys me...mainly because of its' impossibility to capture (I always either KO it or it uses Roar), rarity (HeartGold is the only game I can ever get it on), and the fact that I generally don't like the design.

I feel your pain. You don't know how many times in the past I've gone after a Growlithe and literally had to try upwards of ten times to get a successful capture. :(

Houndour looks depressing, Growlithe looks brave! :)
well thats what i think.

Jesus, this is hard.

Houndour possesses the most epic typing combo there is, Dark/Fire. And it evolves into one of the coolest and most BA Pokemon ever, Houndoom.

Growlithe is still amazingly awesome, because it evolves into Arcanine. 'Nuff said. One of the greatest and most popular Pokemon all of time. And one of the most beautiful.

I really like both of them. ;;

Growlithe. He matches my battle strategy better, is easier to raise, is cuter, has a much cooler evo, isn't overused by the grunts in his respective game (and many grunts in games afterward), has better stats, and was one of the original 150. So, I'm gonna have to say Growlithe. (Though, I'm biased since he's one of my favorite Pokemon and always has been.)

I tried raising a Houndour/Houndoom once and I just... totally failed. I ended up switching him out for a pure fire type. There's something about Dark type Pokemon that I just don't mix with. (Perhaps that they're more... "sneaky" based, per se, than outright attack based?) Houndour is cute, though. Have to give it credit there.

one of my fav pokemon is arcanine so dah growlithe its way better.

I think that Arcanine looks much more regal than Houndoom.
But I love both Pokemon, so it's actually hard to decide.
Growlithe looks cute, Houndour looks tough.
Depends on my mood I guess.
