2nd Gen GSC Monotype Challenge

Poison Challenge

Update 1: 12/23/08
Started my journey.
-Chose Totodile for my starter.
-Beat Rival, and named him Silver.
Caught a Weedle (♀).
-Trained her to Level 12 which seemed like eternity to me.
-She evolved into Kakuna, then Beedrill.
Caught a Zubat (♂)
-Trained him to Level 12, and he learned Bite.
Beat the Sages in the Sprout Tower
Challenged Falkner, and won with Zubat having to use Bite for the whole battle.
Fought my way across Route 32 and Union Cave.
Trained my team up to Level 19. (Took me a while)
Defeated Team Rocket in the Slowpoke Well.
Challenged Bugsy, and won with Beedrill's Twineedle.
Rival appears as I was about to leave Azalea, and I beat his party easily.

I'm making my way through Ilex Forest and Goldenrod City now.

I didn't use them, I promise. I didnt even use cloyster! You can clearly see my Lapras was my first pokemon out and it was my last in the picture.

EDIT: And the cave was dark, I needed flash so that's why I had Hm slaves with me.

i did a lot and i don't remember much of the beginning, but:

picked totodile

beat rival for the first time

caught caterpie (named Cancer)

caught weedle (i hate weedle, so she didn't get a nickname)

evolved both of them to their final stage of metamorphosis.

managed to beat the bird gym leader pretty easily.

got flash

went through union cave

beat the bug gym leader pretty easily.

got headbutt in the forest, caught a pineco

beat the cow gym leader

caught the sudowoodo

beat the ghost gym leader

got surf

went back to the park and caught a ledyba

caught a venonat near mahogany

evolved ledyba while fighting the rockets

beat the ice gym leader

went to the lighthouse

surfed to cianwood to get the medicine

evolved venonat along the way

beat the fighting gym leader

brought back the medicine

got owned by steelix at the steel gym (the damn thing knows rock throw)

to do: teach ledian ice punch (hopefully) and ASSUME that nintendo didn't make steel resistant to ice until after crystal.

edit: beat the steel gym leader with ledian (3 hp left)

Update 2: 12/23/08

Plain Badge
-Zubat evolved to Golbat on my way to Goldenrod City
-Caught a Nidoran♂ and trained it up to Level 20. He evolved to Nidorino at
Lvl 16.
-Beat Whitney with Nidorino's Double Kicks.

Fog Badge
-Caught Sudowoodo ♂ and made it my new HM Slave.
-Beat the Kimono Girls, fought my Rival, met the Legendary Dogs.
-Trained my team up to Level 30.
-Caught a Pidgey♀ for Fly.
-Beat Morty with Golbat's Bites.

Storm Badge
-Caught a Tentacool ♂ and trained it to Level 30, evolved to Tentacruel
near Goldenrod.
-Encountered Entei, and I ran away.
-Surfed to Cianwood City.
-Beat Chuck and got HM02 Fly.

Mineral Badge
-Taught Pidgey Fly.
-Flew back to Olivine, went to Olivine Lighthouse, gave Amphy a
SecretPotion.
-Beat Jasmine with Tentacruel's Surf.

Next Goal:
Catch a Venonat and a Gastly and train them both up to level 30.

12/23 Update #4
(Currently around 4:00 am EST time.)
- Leveled Teddiursa up a bit, then went to challenge Whitney's Gym.
- Managed to beat everyone in there, with the only troublesome one being Miltank. (Stupid Milk Drink. x_x" )
- Got my free bike, and went off to meet the girl near Sudowoodo.
- Beat the trainers along the way, met the girl, went to back to Goldenrod and got the Squirtbottle.
- Caught Sudowoodo. Level 20 Female. (Pokedex, and force of habit.)
- Wandered up to Ecruteak, defeated trainers on the way.
- Sat through the scene with Bill, then deposited Sudowoodo in the PC.
- Caught a Tauros. Level 13 Male. (Also, Tauros has a terrible backsprite. It's like he's a hunchback. >.> )
- Decided to level everyone up a bit to even things out. (Teddiursa = lvl 25, everyone else was at 20 or less. :< i'm neglectful.)
(Quit and started again around 6pm.)
- Caught a Stantler. Level 14 Female.
- Caught a Meowth. Level 16 Male.
- Trained a bit more, then beat Rival at the Burned Tower.
- Took down the Gym with pretty much no resistance, aside from Gengar's Dream Eater. (Normal types + Faint Attack/Bite = Win.)
- Battled the Kimono Girls and got the Surf HM, taught it to my Furret.
- Back-tracked to Goldenrod and bought some TMs from the Dept. Store.
- Ran into Entei on Rt. 38.
- Spearow evolved into Fearow. Back-tracked and saved at the Ecruteak Pokemon Center.

Ill do fighting on Gold

But seeing how you can't really get any fighting types before Mt. Moatar can I wait till then till catch my pokes or do I have to do it before Ilex forest because the only ones you can get before ilex are Heracross and its his secondary type? I am fine fine with having a team of heracrosses but that really wouldn't be a fighting team :

I beat red with one level 65 lapras, he's not that hard.
 
I'll take flying, going to start tonight to get a hoothoot, so I don't have to do it tommorow night.

Edit: Update 1, 12/23-12/24 (Xmas Eve!!!) 11:50-12:00 (Going with the flow)
-Decided to try out being a girl, named Flyeema (:P)
-Went to Elm, got a Totodile for a good HM Slave. (Named HM Slave/)
-Went to Mr. Pokemon, recieved Mystery Egg and a PokeDex
-Fought my rival, won.
-Gave the officer my Rival's name, Crystal. (Named after the game I'm playing, hah, a boy named Crystal)
-Got 5 PokeBalls
-Was shown how to catch PokeMon, caught a Hoothoot named MIDNIGHT
-Stopped there, going to wait til' morning to get a Pidgey

Edit2: Update 2 12/24 (X-Mas Eve!!!) 10:05AM
-Caught a Pidgey
-Got through the next city, trained a little and beat all the trainers in my way to Violet City
-Cleared out Sprout Tower, recieved HM 05
-Beat Falkner and his subordinates
-Recieved Togepi Egg, going to be a Normal/Flying Togetic :)
*Stopping for now, will continue later.

red wouldn't be hard if he didn't have a charizard. flamethrower is what killed me. over and over again.

Idk if this helps, but early on maybe load ledian with X-Attack, and try to get in a thunderpunch on Charizard, you might be able to do it like that, just a suggestion.

Update 3 12/24/08 Bleh...

-Unlocked Unowns
-Went to Azelea, saved slowpoke.
-Beat Bugsy fairly easily, scyther was somewhat a pain, but nothing a bit of what Midnight couldn't heal.
-Recieved HM 01 (Cut)
-Travelled through Ilex Forest
-Now defeating trainers around these parts, going to go to the bug contest tommorow (maybe) and get a scyther

-Caught the Red Gyarados at Lake of Rage.
-Defeated Team Rocket at their Mahogany Base.
-Beat Pryce with Nidorino's Double Kicks.

-Golbat evolved to Crobat at Level 37
-Traded Haunter so he would evolve to Gengar.
