Guardians (PG-13)

OK, that's cool.

Jason walked into the lobby of the PokeLodge, and was amazed with how crowded it was. People were standing at the registers buying items, at the desk healing their Powermon, eating meals, or checking in to spend the night.

With Century following at his heels, Jason walked across the lobby to the bulletin board in back and scanned it for a job that looked fun and easy. A middle-aged man in the PokeLodge uniform was standing next to him, and he asked, "Looking for a job, eh? Need any help choosing one?"

Jason looked up and shook his head. "Nah, I figure I can pick one myself."

The PokeLodge employee smiled. "So, by the look in your eyes, I can tell you're a rookie guardian. You excited to be on your first mission?"

Jason laughed, "Yeah, I bet that's how you knew." His eyes kept scanning the board when suddenly they stopped and he stared at a poster intently."

"You decided on one? Take it down and show it to me."

Jason tore the paper down from the board and handed it over to the man, who read it out loud. "'Help the Saffron City Police capture a gang of three robbers. Each robber is known to own one Houndour.' Looks pretty tough, you sure you and your Eevee can handle it?"

Jason looked down at Century and said, "Yeah, it might be tough, but it's crime-fighting! Sounds like this one's gonna be fun, right, Century?"

To the PokeLodge Employee it looked like Century just stretched out a little and sat there, but Jason heard, "Yeah! Bring it on!"

"What did he say?" asked the man, who was aware that guardians could communicate with their partner Powermon.

"He says he's ready! I know I'm ready, so I'm accepting this!"

With that, the employee nodded, and the Abra by his side opened its eyes, which were glowing purple. Jason and Century felt the world twisting around them, and then everything became a distorted blur. He felt himself spinning in a void, and then he was standing in the streets of Saffron City, right across the street from the local Police Station. His whole career as a guardian was about to begin.

Miharu glanced around, walking into the lobby of the Pokelodge. She found her destination, the employment part. She glanced around the jobs, seeing that one of the missions was already taken. She read through each one until a man walked up to her.

"Ye want a job, little lady?" He didn't wait for an answer. "For someone such as yeself, I would take an easier job. Sure, they don't pay lots o' money, but at least ye won't get hurt."

Miharu hmmed. She decided to ignore the sexist man and pointed to the one with the Toxicroack.

"I will take that one," she stated.

The man's eyes widened. "That there is a mighty strong Toxicroack. Are ye sure a little lady like ye can handle it?"

"I am sure."

The man shook his head. "Well, if it's what ye want. Do ye need the Abra?"

Miharu shrugged. "Why not."

There was a swirl of light as she appeared in the Great Marsh in Pastoria City.

McKenna walked into the Pokemon Lodge and looked for the board that posted all available jobs. She was rather nervous seeing as this was her first task as a guardian. She didn't want to let anyone down.

She scanned the board for a job that would be best suited to her. She would have liked to help the woman find her son, but she would be at a serious type disadvantage there. Ridding Sandgem Town of the noisy Kricketot and Kricketune seemed much easier. Her fire aura was perfect for getting rid of these noisy bugs. Not exactly the most glamorous or important job, but everyone's gotta start somewhere, right? Besides, MysticSand would be handy to have.

She took the paper off the board and handed it to the clerk at the desk. "Hello, sir. I'd like to accept this job please." He read it, nodded and directed her over to the Abra. It's eyes glowed as it Teleported her to Sandgem Town. In a few moments, McKenna found herself standing on a sandy beach. She remembered playing here with her parents when she was a kid. It seemed like such a long time ago...

Standing quietly for a minute, she heard the sound of the Kricketot and Kricketune coming from the forest. She had never heard so much noise coming from such small bugs. She let Velocity out of her pokeball and they headed off in the direction of the noise.

It was time for the new recruit, Alice, to pick a mission. She knew they wouldn't be very amazing nor exciting, but it was a job none the less. It seemed as if everyone was itching for a mission, since the bulletin board had just been updated. Alice didn't remember if they were even required to do missions. She just wanted a place to live. That was the main reason she joined, at least. Though it didn't matter now, because she had to do a mission, one or another.

Alice easily pushed through the crowd of people including some other newly recruited members of the guild. They reminded her of herself. Aron snuggled next to her on her shoulder, and rubbed her cheek to try and make its trainer feel better. Alice picked him up from her shoulder and held him in her arms. She adored the little powermon, but she knew he would get hurt if they had to battle. The Aron gave her a reassuring look, as if he understood what she was thinking.

Alice started to daydream, scanning through some memories of her unfortunate past. That dreadful cave, that dreadful creature...and the fire. The little powermon risked its life for her, and now she was putting the little guy in danger. The scene was horrifying in her mind, but her partner would have to put up with many more situations just like hers. Alice was sure Aron wanted to get stronger, but she wasn't very strong herself.

The recruit was pulled out of her thoughts from a shove and shout from behind. On purpose, Alice didn't budge. But the shove focused her mind, and she looked through the list. It looked like nothing would fit her- either the rewards were crummy or there were too many disadvantages. Too many...fire type powermon...were included in the jobs.

"That one" her partner suggested. Number 10- 'Stop and catch thief Sneasel/Weavile! Return stolen stuff! Location: Snowpoint City. Reward: Memory Book.'

Hey, I'm not gonna be able to post until maybe 12 AM. One of my friends turned 21, and we're taking her to the bar to get her hammered.

I'm gonna reserve mission 7 if possible, and will get posting asap

"Hmm, which one to choose..." Mused rookie guardian Nat, looking up at the huge display board with multiple pieces of paper pinned to it. Each one was a cry for help of some kind, from the easiest finding lost powermon jobs to the hardest dectective endevours. The cheerful looking young Natu on her shoulder chirped exitedly, looking forward to her first job.

"Need a little help there miss?" A tall black man looked down at Nat and smiled. She smiled back, a little nervous. "You're a psychic like myself, right? So a good place to start would probably be mission 1 or mission 11. Both involve poison types and you have an nice advantage against them."

"Thanks!" Nat looked up at the man and smiled. Now her choice was narrowed down considerably, she had an idea of what to pick. "I'll take mission number 11. If I manage to get this guy's trust, I can read his mind to see what's up with the guy."

"Nice choice. It might be a little too hard though, maybe you could get help from someone? I'm sure that someone from another guild could be of assistance."

"I guess... But who?" The man walked away to who knows where with his powerful looking alakazam in tow. "I wonder if anyone can help me out here...?"

"Something seems fishy about this salesman...investigate! (Investigate shady salesman who sells food, but people are becoming sick. Owns a Garbodor. Lives in Accumula Town, Reward: Elixir of Life (if you're exhausted, take this and feel much, much better.)" Axel read as he tore off a note from the Pokelodge's quest board. Static was right next to him.

"Bring it!" The Powermon seemed to say.

A Garbodor would be hard to fight if the investigation resulted in an actual battle. There wasn't really a type advantage, but Garbodor would be a few times larger than little Static. Axel needed to find a 'partner' to work with, at least until the mission was over. He quickly scanned the crowded room for anyone else holding a piece of paper with '11' on it.

A few people just warped out, one after another. They were on their own missions too, probably. The Guardians sure had a lot of new recruits.

"Mission eleven, anyone?" Axel yelled from atop one of the tables he just got up on.

(Awwww. some one took the one I did :( I'm posting it anyways.)

Angel was excited to say the least. She was a guardian at last! She wondered what she, as a guardian, should do now. "Cotton-ee, Cott, Cottonee", Fluff said. Angel smiled at the cotton ball pokemon she held in her arms. "I know, Fluff, I'm excited too. Come on, lets go check out the Job bulletin board", She said, walking gracefully to the board. She scanned the listings, a bit disappointed by the mundane choices. She reminded herself that all great guardians started out doing mundane jobs like these, and even still did. She was just going to have to do her very best and prove that she's worthy of the title, Guardian of the Aura. She was jolted from her thoughts by her Cottonee bouncing in her arms. It was looking at one job listing in particular.

She took a closer look: Help local police capture gang of 3 robbers, all owning a Houndour. Saffron City (Reward: Free Pardon from police, which is a get-out-of-trouble pass basically). She bit her lip, then remembered that she had come from Sinnoh, not Kanto. No one there would know who she was as a person, especially the police. She'd be known simply as the Guardian of the Grass-type Aura. Coming all the way from the Unova region. She shrugged, and said, "This is the one we should go on?". Her Cottonee responded by bouncing again. She took the slip of paper from the board, packed a few clothes in her purse just in case, and bade the Guild master a goodbye. She inhaled the warm air and savored the feeling of sunshine as she left the Guild. Her Cottonee was doing the same.

She looked around for a Pokelodge. She found a sign that read "Unova Pokelodge, 5 miles à". She heaved a sigh. Then she started walking, observing the scenery around her. All too soon she reached the Lodge. She showed the man the slip of paper, as well as her Guardian I.D. The man brought out an Abra, and teleported Angel to Saffron City. Angel blinked and thanked the Abra. She then turned and gazed wide-eyed at the beautiful yellow city. She found a sign that said "Saffron City, Kanto. The gleaming golden city." She was a bit lost, unsure of just where the Abra had dropped her off. She started wandering around, not sure of where the Kanto Guild, or anything, was. "What a time to go and get yourself lost", she told herself. She wandered some more, and found a group of 3 Officer Jenny's. She walked over. "Hello, I'm from the Unova region guild. I was told that you needed some help?", She said.

One of the Officer Jenny's turned and looked at her. "So that's where you ran off to? Unova? Your father was looking for you everywhere.", She said. Angel paled visibly. "Y-you're not going to make me go back, a-are you?", She asked. Officer Jenny just looked at her for a moment. "No. I'm not. There's no point. Your father's not around anymore, so it doesn't matter". Angel stared. "What do you mean?", She asked. "Your father died last year on Christmas day.", the officer said. Angel couldn't bring herself to be upset. "Three robbers have fled, all owning a Houndour. We need your help.", a second Officer Jenny said. "Just point me in the direction of where you last saw them", she said. She had un-surpassed tracking skills. The police pointed to the direction of a small wooded area.

Angel silently glided to the spot, and then kneeled down next to a tree. She placed her palm on the trunk, and whispered in her mind, *Tree, please, I need your help. Tell me, have any people passed this way, owning Houndours?*. The tree responded *Yes. They are not far, about 500 feet to the right, one hiding in some bushes and two hiding in the trees*. *Thank you*, Angel said. She placed her palms on the ground and focused her power. Her Cottonee was in her pack, watching with interest. She made the trees grow vines, which she made wrap around the thieves. She then made the bush contract its branches, holding the third one fast. She thanked the trees and then walked back. "Their all yours", she said. She walked wearily to the Pokémon center, and checked into a room. She laid on the bed and closed her eyes, exhausted from using her power. After a few hours she woke up and decided to look around the city for a few minutes before leaving. She bought a peppermint mocha coffee and sat down on a bench. She let Fluff out of her pack. Fluff bounced into Angel's lap, where she decided to take a nap. After half an hour, Angel got up and realized, to her horror, that she didn't know where the nearest Pokémon Lodge was. She face-palmed, then walked out of the city, Fluff resting in Angel's arms.*Nice going*, Fluff sent Angel. *It's not my fault I'm lost. I didn't exactly ask to be lost in the Kanto region*, She thought. *Maybe if we find the Kanto Guild, they might tell us where the nearest lodge is*, Fluff said. *Maybe. I don't honestly know. I'm not sure what exactly to do or what the protocol is for a Guardian from another region. Especially one as new as Unova.*, Angel replied, stepping over a fallen log.

She didn't honestly know where she was, she knew she'd been walking for at least 3 hours, but much to her delight and gratitude, she spotted the Kanto Guild. She cautiously approached the Guild, wondering if they would help a lost Grass-type Aura Guardian from Unova. She entered nervously, and cautiously walked through the door. "Umm, excuse me. I was wondering if you could help me. I seem to have gotten a little lost. I'm from the Unova Region Guild, so I'm not sure where anything is.", she said softly, her voice as gentle as a summer breeze. Her long black hair was put into a pony-tail, but a few strands hung around her face, accentuating the snow-white skin and pastel-pink eyes. She knew she had forgotten to cover up the tattoos that morning, but it was a little too late.

A smile crept over Alice's face, a rather small one one. The mission her partner suggested was perfect, as the enemy pokemon would do little to no damage to her or her partner, but at the same time be challenging when it came to speed and technique. Ice and Dark Types didn't match very well with Steel types anyways. The reward was also very great. Perhaps she could put the book to good use. Alice gave a praiseworthy smile to her partner, and the powermon climbed back onto her shoulder.

"I guess I know what I'm doing now" she replied, with a pleased look on her face.

Alice ripped the sheet of information from the bulletin board and easily pushed back through the crowd. On the request, the area said Snowpoint City. It sounded interesting, but she had no idea where such a place was located, or how she would get there.

"The Abra", her partner reminded her.

The trainer nodded, and ran in the location the Abra was located, although she moved fairly slower than everyone else. The lodge wasn't too far away, but it was also full of other trainers who wanted to get to their own destinations. When she arrived, her powermon climbed down from Alice's shoulder. It yawned, and its steel coat glimmered as a small piece of light reflected from its body. Alice was getting sick of these crowds. She budged through, facing the Abra and making her request before anyone felt the need to pick a fight with her.

"We need to get to Snowpoint City." Alice stated, taking the job request out from her pocket.

The small powermon nodded and soon began to glow in a vibrant, purple aura. It focused its psychic power and released it onto Alice and Aron. The light flashed into the trainers eyes, and as she blinked the light faded, revealing a frost-covered city. She was in a daze and got a bit of a headache from her transport. Her partner didn't seem too distorted by it, and nudged his trainer.

"I really hope I can get use to this", Alice groaned, "S-sorry. Lets go".

The city was covered with snow. As the pair was walking, the snow suddenly got deep, and Aron fell fast into the huge pile of snowflakes. He shivered, and grabbed onto Alice's leg, climbing into her arms. His trainer walked through with ease, but also felt the cold creeping through her spine. Her coat gave her little to no warmth. But they both knew it was best to keep on moving, and to finish their job as soon as possible.

It was forty minutes passed dawn, and small freight bus traveled a winding rugged trail with the sun to its rear. The bus, which could best be described as a metallic blue Twinkie in appearance, carried very few passengers on its top layer, with the bottom portion being used exclusively to hold precious cargo and the luggage of onboard passengers. Within the luggage area sat a cloaked figure with his legs crossed, facing the opening. Although no light shown, the figure was still able to read the names on the suitcases around him in the pitch black as clearly as he could see the almost all black Houndour that lay next to him. While meditating to pass the time, the man thought back to what had brought him to the most seemingly perplexing of locations.

Seven hours prior, a young man walked through a dimly lit narrow corridor. The walls were draped with burgundy curtains, creating a mental illusion of blood amidst the shadows creeping from the dancing candlelight. Alongside the man was his partner Houndour, whose intense gaze was matched only by that of his master. The two walked by a pair of old antique chairs, the only hint that humans have recently occupied the slightly eerie location. At the end of the hall was a large Victorian door decorated beautifully with carvings of flowers and trees, almost placed there jokingly at someone's amusement to the setting around it.

The pair walked through the door into a medium sized room whose innards matched the hallway's in theme. Though there were windows, the burgundy drapes saw to it that no light shown through, and large torches were used to artificially illuminate the room. There was a large deep red rug with gold colored trimmings along the sides in the middle of the room, the center of which bore the insignia of the Shadow Guild. Unlike the empty hallway that leads to it, this room was furnished. Bookshelves aligned against the wall, all stuffed with hardbound books of various origin and content. Two chairs, similar in design to those in the hallway, stood next to one another facing a desk with a few scrolls of paper, a feather pen and a small jar vial of ink. Behind the desk was a more lavish chair with a larger backrest cushion in red velvet. The center of the room was almost empty save for a small table stand with a decorated wooden box with a candle burning next to it.

The man knew what he was seeking would be within the box, as his training dictated so. Although the room appeared to be lifeless with the sole exception of the two who just entered, each step they took towards the box felt like a million eyes were watching them. Opening the box and reaching in, the man pulled out a small scroll of paper, and read it in silence.

"This will be your first assignment. In the town of Turquoise is a psychic aura user who is using her partner Kadabra to control the town. We need that town liberated for our own reasons, and a local has requested all regional guilds to assist. It's a perfect cover for your first mission. Take the girl out of power by any means necessary. Complete this task 'Shade' and your initiation will be deemed valid."

One could not tell through the mask covering Shade's mouth, but a small smirk crossed his lips as he crumpled the paper and held it over the candle fire, allowing it to burn the message, destroying all evidence of the mission as was protocol for the Guild. With no further business within the room, the two took their leave swiftly in order to complete the assignment quickly.

The Shadow Guild, unlike other guilds, could not use Abras as main modes of transportation. The innate Dark energies within the Guild members combined when concentrated in such cramped spaces, disrupting the psychic Powermon's abilities. Those who tried to use them for teleportation in the past have learned that even trained Abras will flee; feeling unwelcome in the Guild's headquarters and preferring a place where their supernatural senses could be of an advantage. To battle this problem, the Guild had hands in multiple travel agencies which operated with supply trucks, boats and even a few small airways.

Like many before him, Shade entered his mode of transportation through the cargo hold area well before passengers were allowed to board to hide his presence. The destination was Pallet Town, a small town bordering Route 1, with the ocean to the south, and Turquoise Town about a mile to the east of it. Still thinking about his mission, Shade was disrupted by the halt of the truck, with the inertia naturally pushing his body forward as the vehicle came to a stop. He knew his time would be short between now and when the passenger's open up the luggage compartment to retrieve their things.

Leaving the comfort of the luggage area, Shade opened the door, letting the sunlight shine in. His Houndour quickly jumped out and sprinted behind a group of nearby oil drums as he silently shut the door. Upon hearing the doors open, Shade was able to listen in to the men and women talking about how long of a trip they've had. Without a moment to spare, Shade moved like a cat stalking in the night and joined his companion behind the drums until he was sure the civilians left. With no obstacles left, the two left the station in silence, heading for their destination.

Jason was about to cross the street when he heard a scream from behind him, followed by the sound of shattering glass. He twisted around to see a Gastly emerging from a window in the house behind him. That doesn't look good, he thought. He cast a worried glance at Century, who was a Normal-type Powermon. The Gastly had evidently noticed Jason, and was floating towards him.

Jason panicked. What do I do now?! he cried in his mind. He received no comfort from Century, who seemed even more afraid than he was. He held his arms out and closed his eyes as he backed away from the approaching Gastly.

Suddenly, he heard what sounded like an explosion and opened his eyes to see the Gastly destabilized and on the ground, in the middle of a cloud of dissipating electricity. Jason opened his mouth wide and stared at his hands for an instant, then burst out laughing. "My Electric aura!" he cried. "That's what we've got! Looks like a tough day of crime fighting will have to wait."

OOC:......... Really. I just get done typing this and I see that. Well, sorry.

Dear Elesa:

As I promised, I will start writing you frequent messages about my life here in the Unova Guild. So, without further ado, I present my first letter to you.

Sol, I'll start when you and I last saw each other, then I will work my way up to how I got my first mission and then how that turned out):. Once we left Nimbasa City, the people started asking me all these different questions like how long have I had these powers, and when did I start training. I answered all their questions with good answers, but they didn't seem to like my answers. I don't want to turn out to be like them, because all the way up there they were just silent and wouldn't even carry on a conversation with me. I don't like those people.

Anyway, once we got to the guild, they just left me to either find my way around, or die, they didn't care about me. While I was in a state of panic, a nice girl named Emilee came up to me. She seemed nice, but the most striking feature was that she was almost as pretty as you. She told me she was a D-rank too and I about died. Love at first sight is REAL! After she showed me around a little bit, she asked me a very important question. Would I accompany her on a dangerous mission? Well, at the time, I didn't know what accompany meant, so I said yes. Who wouldn't say yes to that angel? Oh yeah, I almost forgot to say that they have EVERYTHING here. Anything you can imagine is at this guild.

Well, after the tour, she showed me to the front desk where I could pick the missions I wanted to go on. Since I wanted to show her that I was a macho man, I decided to get the one where we had to banish some ghost freaks. I hindsight, that was the dumbest choice ever. I didn't realize I was terrified of ghosts. Her and her little Cubchoo, which was extremely cute, brought me over to the table at the pokélodge. What was going through my mind you ask? Well, I was thinking since Ghost Trackers can do it, well then so could I. I just kept making mistakes that day.

We were teleported by an Abra, which if I'm not mistaken, I think it was checking me out. It teleported us to this creepy house, and what made matters worse, there was a thunderstorm here. So, I'm about to pee myself I'm so scared, but you know that I have to keep this awesome exterior for the girl. We go inside the house to see if we can't find some ghosts that we can beat up on. Oh, there wasn't any light, so I had to light a candle with my finger, and that made matters go to extreme creepiness. We searched the house a little bit. Those little ghosts know how to hide! The only thing that kept them from not being noticed was the noise they made trying to scare us. It worked. We finally found a Ghastly that we beat pretty easily. Lunar kicked that Ghastly's butt. Now that I think about it, Ghastlies don't have butts, but oh well. Anyway, Lunar was kicking the Ghosts right out of their little home. Each one he hit, it dissolved into a mist and floated through the front door. The Haunter was a whole different story though.

He was a big meany. He slung Lunar and Emilee's Cubchoo around like they were nothing. I told them to stay there while I handled him. I pulled out my sword hoping I could hurt him, but every time I swung, it went right through him. I figured the only way to beat him was with our aura. Emilee sent out a cool looking ice beam thing from her hands and froze him while I shot out a couple of fireballs and melted the ice while I burned him. The saying is true fire does take out ghosts. After repeating the freeze then burn cycle many times, I figured he would give up, but like always I was wrong. That thing was T-U-F-F tough. I thought I could heal Lunar with some trees, but we were inside, so I couldn't. I knew what we had to do. Emilee and I grabbed our powermon and ran for the hills hoping it would chase us. It did. Apparently he still wanted a piece of us. We went into a nearby forest where I took vines and wrapped both powermon with and told them to lie still for a bit until you feel strength coming back. I had a bone to pick with that haunter.

Even though my Aura was running low I had to use all my energy to heal the two powermon. So, I tried to just stall the haunter with little tricks for a little bit until Lunar told me they were ready to fight. Emilee and I ran toward where the two powermon were, and told them to jump when they could see the haunter. The two executed the plan perfectly and took down the haunter once and for all. It dissolved like the ghastly did and floated back to the world of the dead. I think I passed out from all the energy loss, because the next thing I knew, I was back at the Unova Guild. I bet Emilee didn't like having to carry me back wherever we needed to go to get back.

That was a pretty fun mission I must say, and when I found Emilee and asked her if I did she just said that I needed a little help getting back. I think she was just being nice, but I accept not admitting that I passed out on the first mission. And one other thing before I go, if you ever fight a haunter in your gym, good luck Elesa(:

Love and miss you,
Aristo

A girl started waving her hands at Axel, yelling out, "Yeah, I'm doing mission eleven!" She was a typical blonde teen, with piercing green eyes. A Natu was perched on her shoulder.

"Well, what luck!" Axel commended her. "A Psychic type Guardian will make this mission way easier!"

He waited for the girl to make an introduction, as she pushed through the crowd to meet him.

Okay seriously guys twice. I'm not blaming anyone, but seriously?

ElectricScyther, I really don't know to say. I would ask you to pick another job again but what happened today might happen again.

You know what, I'll PM you a misson. How does that sound?

The spiky haired teen from earlier walked towards Nat, the little yellow sheep following obediently at his feet looking fairly happy with himself. Nat simply looked and smiled. When she realised he wanted an introductions, she blurted out, "Hi, I'm Nat! And my little buddy here" Nat gestured to the little green bird on her shoulder, "Is Cleo." She reached out a hand for him to shake.

The Guardian introduced herself as Nat, probably short for Natalie or something, with her Natu, Cleo. She extended her hand for Axel to shake.

Hopefully, nothing shocking would happen, Axel thought. He took the girl's hand and shook it firmly, surprised that nothing literally shocking happened to her.

"Axel Hawkins. Electric type Guardian." He smiled. "Shall we head to the Abra now, or do you prefer to walk all the way across the region." He joked.

---------------

OOC: Feel free to have a bit of control on Axel, Almondeyes. I'm not that picky with others roleplaying as my character. Haha! :D

Here's Axel in a picture. It's not complete yet, so yeah. He wears Ugg boots instead. xD

Spoiler:

Not finished yet, as you can see. xDD
