Gym Leader Challenge

Warning: Wall of text below

 I got through the tiny cave quickly and healed.
I talked to Prof Elm. God he talks almost as much as Kurt. He told me to keep the Togepi. I told him I didnt want it. He said he wouldnt take it back. So I headed towards Cherrygrove City and dumped the thing in my computer. I thought about selling that useless stone Elm gave to me but decided against it.
When I got back to Azalea Town, I was about to leave, when BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH. Oh no. Its Regal. He told me I can escape the talking torture by beating him in battle otherwise I had to actually listen to what he said. I knew I had to win.

Wbat a pain
Razor had no trouble with Gastly, Zubat Confused it but got passed it. Razor OHKO Regal's Bayleef with ACID. Regal got mad and kicked me below the belt and ran away... after making me listen to him talk for like 15 minutes. Coward. Anyways I went into the forest and the guy who can cut the tree out of the way lost his Farfetch'd. Guess who had to retrieve it. Anyways his boss gave me an hm01 and I taught Cut to Totodile. I decided to leave ASAP. Some old couple gave me an egg. So I walked around for a while and hatched it, It was a Pichu. I figured it was a decent enough pokemon for now. I named it Zappa. I started training Zappa.
I went to the Radio Building and got a Radio Card, I also won an EXP Share and made Pichu hold it. Saved.

At Night Time
I went and caught a Wooper(Flood), couldnt find a Poliwag.
Trained for a bit
Beat Whittney without having to switch
Got Squirtllbottle

Beat the eevee dancers. Flood evolved into a Quagsire after beating Flareon.

Anyways, I went WEST of Mahogany Town and trained a bit. There I also caught a Magnemite. At level 24 Zappa evolved into a Pikachu. I headed east back into Mahogany Town and healed. I went into a tower that looked like it had been burnt down. NOOOOOOOOOOO. Someone talked t me as I entered. I explored the tower and found my rival, after easily beating him, I fell 30 feet into a hole, yet somehow escaped without a scratch on me. Three dogs swirled in circles and ran off.

NOOOOOOOOOO THE TALKING GUY TALKED TO ME AGAIN
Anyways I healed and went into the gym. Zappa pwnt all the gym trainers. I told the gym leader, Morty, that I would only need 1 pokemon to beat him. And the battle started. I sent out Flood
Flood def. Gastly, and 2 Haunters in 1 hit each. Gengar used Mean Look and ALMOST fainted from a surf. He used hypnosis and dream eater, but Flood woke up at the last minute and won with an EARTHQUAKE. Blah blah blah. Headed towards lake of rage. Saw a red Gyarados and put Magnemite at the front of my party and challenged Gyarados to a battle! Met some idiot named lance and he asked for my help. I told him maybe later and was on my way to Olivine City
On my way to Olivine, Magnemite evolved into Magneton
Trained a bit and got the Good Rod so I caught a Chinchou.
Trained through a lighthouse
Went to Cianwood.
Forgot Strength so went back.
Decided to try to beat Jasmine first.
Flood had no trouble.
Went back to Cianwood to battle Chuck.
Easy Zappa win.
Trained for a bit before going back to where Lance was. Went into TR Underground Base
After KOing all the Electrodes, I healed and started Pryce's Gym
Magneton defeated all the trainers and Pryce by itself, although admittedly its HP was rather low at this point

Damn i can't get anywhere with Falkners pokemon Morty wiped the floor with my lv33 fearow

So I am Now starting fresh with chucks pokemon on Gold
 
Clair / Gold / Emulator

Sofar so good , I've reached Whitneys gym.

Falkner Gym

As Starter I picked Toto, for the simple fact of having a Growlithe > Chikorita / Bayleef.

Went to the route where Sudowoddo is, didnt know Gold didnt have the crystal grass in which Growlithes appear >.> *Cries*

Did the starter thingy , then went to falkners gym, beat him with the simple tactics of Toto rage all the way :D.

Road to Azalea

Then went on to Route 32 , caught a Level 6 F Mareep, then went to (bellsprout?)'s tower and leveled Mareep up to 11 (Easy XP :D)

Nothing new except for some battles with trainers , Mareep at app level 14 , then got Old rod from the fishing dude, caught 3 Magikarps (Ditched 1 in the PC because I forgot to name it xD)

Trained magikarp to level 13 in Union cave and Flaffy (Volty) is now level 17.

Went to Kurt , Battled the Rockets, freed the slowpokes etc.
And oh ye , almost forgot , named my 2 Magikarps to Fear and Rage :)!

Went through the gym at ease with Rage infront and then withdraw and sent in Volty (To level up some MoaH! ^^) Until I faced Scyther (Me fear fury cutter :( !) Used Thunder wave , Thundershock twice, and it went down too easy in my opinion O.o
(Rage Level 15 , Flaffy dunno , I think level 18 - 20 xD)

Whitneys Time to get PwNeD!

My team now Consists of 2 Magikarps , 1 Flaffy and a Toto slave :P.
Battled the rival , failed the first time since I totally forgot about him and was totally unprepared xD. WIN the next time I faced him, Did the Farfetch chase thingy , got Cut and teached Toto, Got headbutt from the headbutt guy , didnt remember the hidden items xD.

Battled the trainers with ease at the entrance of Goldenrod city, put Fear into the Daycare due to lack of care (LoL!!OneEleven!!!) And before I would face Whitney, I decided to put Toto into the PC and went on to train Rage and to attempt to catch a Nidoran (Male). Faced all the trainers in the next route , underground , National park etc , got Rage to level 20 , And my new team member , A Nidoran /Nidorino (Doom) to level 17.

Then I went to the Gamecorner to buy come Coins (Only got 650 and -3 for failed attempt ....)

Then went to face whitney , beat her with ease Clefairy and Miltank to 50% HP with Nidorino (Didnt heal him between the trainers lol xD Double Kick Whitney FTW!)

Going good now I just beat whitney

Named myself Wayne (just thought of a random name)
Picked chikorita then caught a geodude to get my past falkner, which I did with liberal use of rock throw. caught a lv 6 Mareep on route 32 and named the little guy tesla:) and then picked up and old rod to catch a poliwag in violet city Which I named battletoad:laugh:

With battltoad and tesla i brezed through union cave leveling both of them up in preparation for bugsy and catching a sandshrew (now named slashy) beat bugsy and tema rocket plus my my Rival magkarp.

At the moment I just beat whitney with tesla using thunder wave and thundershock working in tandem on that stupid miltank. beat sud easily with battletoad first using hypnosis and repeated water guns.
Currently I am grinding the a drowzee i caught to take on Morty and the rest of his ilk.

Picked totodile as starter to use it for slave
Crushed the first gym with a few scratch
Crushed second gym with a few watergun
Get past the ilex forest
Destroyed witney with my brand new growlithe
Killed sudowoodoo by accident >.<
Entered burned tower and defeated my rival with a single pokemon ( Growlithe)
Met the three dogs(Suicune,Entei,Raikou)
The 4th gym unlocked

Its over
I got all the badges
I defeated RED, I didnt revives and I was left at 2-3 disadvantage by the time I killed Snorlax. I got to a 2-2 and my quagsire killed Charizard, Charizard burned my Quagsire, I switched in pikachu he did blastoise. This is it. THUNDER! Blastoise took a big hit but killed Pikachu with a surf. My Quagsire had to do enough damage to faint Blastoise or I would lose that turn. EARTHQUAKE! CRITICAL HIT! EPIC WIN IS EPIC

I think he stated before about HM slaves, nor do I think they need to be from the list since some of these trainers lacks a few HM capable pokes.

Hey, I'd love to join and do a Clair Runthrough. One suggestion about a Clair runthrough though; could you add Totodile, Croconaw, and Feraligatr to the list, because otherwise the challenge is almost impossible on Silver. The only pokemon available before Whitney that falls under that category is Magikarp, and we all know how fun training Magikarp is. Feraligatr later has access to Dragon Dance, and I could see Dragon trainers having him. It would make the challenge more accessible to players on Crystal that want to do Clair. If you post back saying that Totodile is okay, I'll update with my first gym.

Ok, first update. These are all boring stuff at the start of the game so I guess you won't bother to read.


  • Started a New Game and named myself Richard.
  • Got the PokeGear.
  • Chose Chikorita as the starter, and named it Charlie.
  • Went to Cherrygrove City, grinding Charlie along the way.
  • Talked to the old man.
  • Healed my Pokemon.
  • Went to see Mr. Pokemon.
  • Got the Mystery Egg and Pokedex.
  • Grinded Charlie to Lv. 9.
  • Went back to Cherrygrove to heal.
  • Battled ??? and won by OHKOing his Pokemon. ^^
  • Went to Prof. Elm's lab.
  • Named my Rival Silver.
  • Got Pokeballs.
  • Went to MOM to save money.
  • Ventured through Route 30, trying to avoid the trainers.
  • Captured a Zubat and named him Bitten.
  • Captured a BELLSPROUT ~ not going to be used.
  • Arrived in Violet City.
  • Backtracked to Cherrygrove to grind Bitten.
