Alright, so I was wondering about this. In this community, what is the general attitude towards hacked/modified Pokemon in competitive battling? I'm not talking about trades here, I'm talking strictly about battles. I mean sure, those people who spend weeks training their Pokemon for battles may not like it, but honestly, some people just don't have time to do so, myself included. I will say that I'm somewhat new to competitive battling, but I'm trying to figure it out.
To be clear, I'm not referring to clearly hacked Pokemon that give you an unfair advantage. I'm referring to Pokemon that could be obtained legitimately and that have normal stats. However, this is another point to discuss. When creating a Pokemon using an editor such as Pokesav, you have to account for every stat. Where do you draw the line for IVs? You could, of course, just hit "all 31" and be done with it, but your team would then be incredibly powerful and most would consider this unfair. What is a fair set of IVs for a hacked Pokemon? When you're playing the game normally, you don't have to consider this, but when hacking you do.
Personally, I see the appeal of hacking in competitive battles simply because the largest part of battling is the strategy. It's not so much the training leading up to the battle as it is the battle itself. A hacker with a bad strategy will still lose easily to a team that can counter it, regardless of their Pokemon's stats. (Within reason, of course. A Pokemon with 999 in all stats and moves it normally couldn't learn can still likely beat just about anything.) So what's your opinion? Should it be acceptable or not?
