Hacking & competitive play...

Someone at GameStop once told me that your game somehow registers it if you use any cheating device and you are automatically disqualified from competitions...but what if those cheat Pokemon came from someone else, eg. wonder trade? What if I was trading with someone, and they sent me over a hacked Pokemon? Would that automatically register in my game? o.O

I really want to get into competitive play, but it's been a week and I still cannot even get one near perfect competitive Pokemon. I can't hatch the Pokemon I need because I just don't really understand the breeding process that well. I want to jump into the actual game, and start battling, instead of spending months breeding Pokemon and training them all to level 100.

You guys know anything about this?

this is only in gamefreak / nintendo issued tournaments, i.e. vgc.

as long as who you're battling outside of gf / nintedo tournaments is okay with it, there's no problem. personally when i battled on wi-fi i just used pokesav and no one really knew because it's not that difficult to make your pokemon look legit.

the breeding process is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. i understand it and i have never breeded in my life. :P

There's always something I do wrong and in the end waste hours just to get the wrong Pokemon :( Like no matter what I do I never get the IVs I want, but I follow the exact process (or so I think...)

But say I was to attend a gf/nintendo tournament...and I received a hacked Pokemon and used it to battle. Would my game be automatically disqualified, even though it wasn't my own Pokemon? :O

In the upcoming VGC, only Kalos-obtained pokemon can be used according to this source.

From my limited knowledge (forgive me if I'm wrong), the only way to receive hacked pokemon in XY is through the ones hacked in previous generations and transfered through Pokebank. Pokemon which are received from Pokebank will have a pokeball symbol instead of the Kalos central/coastal/mountain (red/white/blue) pentagon. Which would mean that if only pokemon with Pokeball symbols might be hacked... if that lessens the worry.

I don't know much about how Gamefreak would react to you accidentally trying to enter a hacked pokemon, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. :\
