Have You ever been Stereotyped?

So have you ever been stereotyped?
Like you know has someone ever called you or made you out to be an emo because you have slightly long styled hair (boys)?
Or have a certain sexual Oriantation because of the way you act?

Personally i've had these two stero types.
In my past admitadly. But I can be true to my feelings so people thought i was homosexual.
&
I had a side fringe so people called me emo.
I mean i feel people can be so shallow that they believe people are trying to be something. That they are trying to belong to a paticular place.
As for me i just act the way i feel & stay true to my current state of mind so yeah sure i change a lot but does that mean i have a new stereo type each time? Personally it was just something i took tp heart but now i dont take any notice.
Anyway Thats my story.
Discuss wheter you have opinions on stereotypical view people use or talk about how you may or may not have been stereotyped. How did it make you feel?

Yeah, I've been stereotyped before. When I went to a summer camp in Mexico and said I was from Texas but not born in Texas, everyone started to call me "El Tejano" or "The Texan" just because I said and and because my glasses make me look kinda shady down there because they are transitions.

So I had no choice but to go with the stereotypes and wear a hat and some boots the next day, those meddling kids :o.

All the time!

Apparently, I smoke weed everyday, all I listen to is rock and metal, etc.

I have really, really long hair. :)

Yeah. I'm stereotyped as the typical brainless jock. While to be fair I -AM- a jock, I'm not brainless. I have a bachelors degree in criminal law and I love anime, role playing (D&D, etc), play the guitar, draw, write and read. So yeah.... just because i'm 6'2" and muscle bound doesn't mean I'm a brainless jock. I got a sensitive and fun loving side too!

Just don't get in my way during football season XD

In the sixth grade, a girl thought I was gothic because I wore black shorts, black Quicksilver t-shirt, and black Nike shoes... I only wore it because all my other shirts were dirty, lol.

Apparently if you come from Greece you have a big addiction to goat cheese and have a sister who is hairy. Oh and you have a nack for pleasuring goats.

Probably not, actually. Not enough things about me, superficial or otherwise, add up to any stereotype I can think of. I try to avoid stereotyping others, too.

Yes. I have. People assume I'm mean and hot tempered because of my red hair. I tend to keep my emotions bottled up. If you got to know me like others have, you'd agree with them that I'm the nicest girl they've ever met. I've been told I'm "too nice." Also, just because I'm Irish, doesn't make me an alcoholic. I don't drink and never will. I only have juice, water, milk, and soda. No alcohol and no coffee. I also don't like potatoes. I'm also Italian and I don't talk with my hands. Just because I play Pokemon or draw doesn't mean I'm immature. If anything, my voice sounds childish.

well let's see....apparently I'm supposed to have 3 kids already, all different fathers and not be in school especially something like engineering because all black girls are go down that route. *bathes in sarcasm*

When I walk in a a lot of asian owned stores I must be in there to steal so the entire time I'm stared at and followed. All Negros steal you know.

......anywho, other countless dumb stuff like the above two.

Two ways:
• Been called a nerd for liking Pokémon.
• This:
(image no longer exists)

I am generally stereotyped as a "jock" because I play hockey and football. However, I don't act like a big shot like most of the players in my school. I don't need to go party every weekend. If they all found out I was into pokemon they'd laugh their ass off. Those that have known, my friends either are with me or some rag on me for it. But I am not ashamed.

Apparently I'm emo because I have a black fringe and I like Linkin Park (I'm chinese so my hair is naturally black and my hair just naturally grows a fringe and it's straight because it just naturally is)

I've also been called a geek and nerd because I get full marks in my tests without ever having to study

I'm naturally good at maths because I'm asian

I have noodles for breakfast lunch and dinner because I'm chinese

Now this is the worst bit, I get stereotyped from my dad and grandma

I'm a miscreant who takes drugs and does illegal things because I'm 14 and I like to go out and hang with my friends in the holidays and they think I'm failing in school because I'm not good at chinese and I live in NZ

I'm exactly stereotyped the same way as you, the bolded ones. I have been also stereotyped as a "Scene Kid", and my elders also criticize me for liking Pokemon and video games.

Just because I get good grades in school and are a little bit shy, I was stereo-typed into being boring, and innocent.

So, the only choice was to shout list off all the swear words I knew, just to prove that I'm not exactly innocent, .. and just for fun, I also draw some witty pictures on their work, which they found hilarious.
.. so, now I'm not really stereo-typed.

People sterotype me as 'camp' meaning I'm gay in their eyes xD

I act a little feminine so of course there are gay rumors that fly around. I do have a southern accent so people automatically think that I am a redneck. And the biggest one that makes me mad is when people think I am not smart because I use compounded words like y'all and ain't, etc.
