Have you ever caught them all?

For the first time in a while i am only missing 5 pokemons ;). (not including volcanion)

Pretty sure the closest I ever got to that was back in blue...and even then, I'm sure I was missing a bunch, since I would have needed all the ones from red version. ._. meh.

And by now....ah ha ha. It's daunting just thinking about it, I'm not even going to attempt to catch all of them. I mean, if I end up with them all, good for me. I'm just not going to make it my goal. :P

I think I was the closest in White 2, 500++++

Sadly, I will probably never complete it without trading/hacking on my current games.
Legendaries mainly will be missing in my dex.

The way some are distributed is very limited...

Honestly the shiny charm hasn't done all that much for me since I completed my Dex. I felt like I was finding more shinies before I even got the charm and once I did get the charm it felt like went down drastically.

That's strange. Maybe you got the 'Made in China' shiny charm.

Afaik in gen 1 I was only one mon short, or maybe I got the diploma and I don't remember anymore...

In gen 2 I got up to 250 Pokemon, the only one missing being Celebi.

In gen 3 I didn't complete it, but I caught everything that was catchable in Sapphire.

In gen 6 I was only 4 mons short in X, but I restarted that version after trading the important ones to my OR. At the same time I managed to get everything in OR, though most of the event mons where hacked, so they're not legit. At the same time, however, whenever I get access to a legit event mon, I like to release the hacked one, because why not.

Also, no matter what happens, I'm never going to complete a Pokedex ever again. It's just way too much work and the price you get for completing it, isn't even worth it, imo.

I try to complete a Pokedex at least once per generation. I never completed one in gen 5, though, and I don't think I finished the 386 dex in gen 3, either (just the Hoenn and Kanto dexes). The first Pokedex I completed was Gold, followed by Red (after Gold died, so I had to get a whole bunch of one-time-only Pokemon that I had traded from Red to Gold from additional playthroughs of Blue or Yellow). It felt like a huge accomplishment in Gold, but since the advent of wifi, it has become so much easier than it used to be. I finished by X dex pretty quickly (within a few months), vs. the several years I took to finish my dex in Gold.

I've never finished a living dex, so I'm trying to breed one in X (a little burnt out right now, though). I also want to complete my foreign language dex, which is tricky, as I'm almost completely reliant on trading. And I'm thinking of making a competitive Pokedex in RBY with the re-releases. If only Stadium were re-released, I could make my own set of rentals...
