3rd Gen Hearing random Pokemon sounds in the wild

One day i was riding along on my mach bike trying to hatch an egg and I hear Oddish cries three times in a row. Help :(

In the R/S/E overworld, there is a chance you can hear wild Pokemon cries.

There's nothing that triggers it, it's totally random.
