I understand battlers who have lots of experience using pokemon like furret cuz they know what they are doing. But seeing that Piplup Trainer is not to that point yet I should start off with stronger,better more useful pokemon.

mmm its all about using cool pokemon over useful ones, which is why cool & useful ones are always a plus (like tyranitar) and also why ill never touch those dam infernapes

Furett first of all is the king of normal pokemon (snorlax being god), and as such surprises the hell outve ya. Just because it aint hard hitting dont me u cant surprise ppl with a switcheroo or sumthing. Its a surprise pokemon, so it has plenty of uses just not damaging ones
And the dunsparce flinch tactic works surprisingly well... its like a poor mans jirachi
Your kidding right >.>, there are so many other normal type pokemon that outclass Furret. Matter of fact there are so many other pokemon that aren't normal that do it's job better(not that it is a good job). All I see that it can do that is decent is trick and well that's not very good.

I meet a Tentacruel on Lv.45 at Route 224 and I call a Sentret at Lv.5.
When I switch the pokemon and defeat the Tentacruel with another Pokemon (let's say...Empoleon), what will happen?
Will Sentret and Empoleon get EVs, or just Sentret/Empoleon or nobody?
Example :
I meet a Tentacruel on Lv.45 at Route 224 and I call a Sentret at Lv.5.
When I switch the pokemon and defeat the Tentacruel with another Pokemon (let's say...Empoleon), what will happen?

well furret is the second coolest normal pokemon out there. followd by porygon2 and miltank. Besides its just an UU pokemon, so its not like its meant to be fighting the heavy hitters which i suppose u prbly use in abundence

Both will get the amount of evs Tentacruel gives out(can't remeber seeing that I have not evd in forever).

Anyway...I don't care that much about originality anymore seeing as how when I did use "original" pokemon, I'd lose miserably. :/ Competitive styled battling is about winning, not originality (although some people like their own twists and turns).
As for leagues and such, it's a lot lest competition and more a laid back way of battling in a competitive manner, therefore, originality is more viable. As for me though, my gym being the steel gym allows me to use some of my favorite pokemon EVER all on the same team. :3 I love you Jirachi. ^^

I agree, being a gym leader allows u to build ur team how u choose, and make it with a lot more originality involved.
