Wasn't lugia and ho-ho catchable in the old G/S?

Yes, you could catch them in the old games (and in GS as well, not just Crystal). There was some doubt over it though as people thought now they might stick to just one per game, but it seems to be confirmed to be this way now. Which was what I guessed it'd turn out to be (making Whirl Islands or the Tin Tower worthless as a result of not doing it just seems too fishy).

I love the art or Ecruteak, and I'm a bit curious it there will actually be that many buildings there in-game. I'm also wondering about those towers (look a bit like command posts) in Mahogany.

Map observations:
-Looks like Kanto has been confirmed, since the western part of Route 22 can be seen on the map.
-I'm curious about the new tower, but I just hope it doesn't overshadow the good old Radio Tower
-I was REALLY suprised with what happened newar Cianwood. I was expecting a new area, but certainly not one this big
-THE TRAIN TRACKS RUN THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS!

I'm still trying to be cautiously optimistic, but it's hard when everything we've seen so far has been amazing.

Do I spot the Bullet train which connects Goldenrod and Saffron on the Johto overhead map? I guess this would show proof that there would be a Kanto region included in the game.

Because they would want it to look mysterious overshadowing the small version? I dunno too small a map to see properly. I am still waiting for the wallpaper version Gamefreak give it!

Now...this is a somewhat interesting speculation of sorts on the new Johto map:

The clouds in Platinum happened to had covered up the Battle Frontier - so now people are asking about the clouds there. TBH, I'm always a bit...'eh' on drawing on such things, but then there is the fact that in Crystal, there was a Battle Tower right where that cloud had been... hmm. Take it as you will, I suppose - but we do know of Goldenrod's new Tower and Cianwood's new area at least - not behinding behind clouds, those two.

You make an interesting find here actually, and I see what you mean. It is definitely peculiar on how they would do that to that area in Johto specifically. However, seeing as it was done to the Platinum map as well, then we may having something coming at us. I'd expect if it was a new Battle Tower or even Battle Frontier, then we might not hear about it until closer the the release of the games. Though, it interests me now on what may be held there. Also, that large Gold Colored sky, it really catches my eye. Anyway, there may possibly be something there. If you look at the image some more, not much land areas are covered in clours, except for that speicif spot where we do get to enter, so I'd keep an eye out for news there in the future.

You are right, both Lugia and Ho-Oh were obtainable in all three games together. Seeing as how nicely done the images are done with Lugia and Ho-Oh in their respective places, it may just note how each location is needed. Not to mention, their body being there means the game makers haven't been forgotten and may possible come back together in both versions. Not to mention, if they want to keep anything exclusive, that is basically what Kyogre and Groudon are doing.

Overall, images are so much in better quality. The new features shown for the remakes are a plus. The map is very nice and with the way it expands to the East, Kanto may after all make another return. I did notice one Rocket member's hair have a green color, now I don't know if that could have been an error in the image or if it may be for something new, but we'll find out. The new female's OW sprite is nicely detailed and I like it alot. However, most people got what I needed covered, so I'll stop here and enjoy the new images and old at eye.

Honesty, I doubt they would make seperate building for an office and the Radio Tower. I do believe however that we may be seeing a new location in Goldenrod City. What it may be, I'm not to sure on. Though, I suspect either a Contest Hall as some have said or the Global Trace Station to be placed there as it would fit in quite well with a developed city such as this.

EDIT: I forget to mention, it seems as though they've kept the feeling feature from Pokémon Yellow. If you look at the image with Teddiursa, you will see a small smiling face above his OW sprite. I think that is a really nice thing to bring back as it lets us know how your Pokémon is doing. I'd think they would smile when fully healthy in HP, have no smile when in terms of organe/yellow HP, and then have a frowning face when low in HP. That was just a basic reference to how I think they would make it work now, but still very nice to have as it gives your Pokémon some sence of reality in nature.

I would also like to point out the touch screen, see it says "picture book". Would that mean you could some how take pictures with the DSI in the game?

Okay, it was being speculated whether or not the blue poles shown next to the lab were the same air vents for the Underground like Sinnoh, or whether or not they might have been lamp posts. However, after seeing these images, I noticed a tall, gray, and thin pole more towards the back of the image [bordered in red]. I would believe this is a light post, meaning the blue vents [bordered in black] may indeed be air vents to the underground. So, with this being said I would think the underground feature from DPPt, might just be brought back to the remakes. Now, this is just basic speculation, but the way I see it, we just may have back the underground in Johto.

Considering that we've seen the station, in addition to the tracks going through Johto as well as the mountains that border it and Kanto, I don't think you need to be worried about that.

About the tall white pole, that is a wind turbine type thing seen in the first video on pokemon sunday.

Did anyone else notice that that the Ecruteak Gym is lined with purple as it has Ghost Types and over in Mahogany Town the Gym is lined with icey blue as it has Ice Types?

Yeah purple for the ghost type in Ecruteak Light blue for ice in Mahogony! Ah this feels like a great game. Summer will pass by so slow dammit..

Yeah, it almost seems that Game Freak is trying to tie in more anime based ideas
For example, in the anime the gyms are all different. The PokeCenters and Pokemarts also look different like they do in the anime.... hmmm just an idea
