Hey there.
Your forum software just recommended that I drop by and introduce myself. So I'm going to do that.
I'm mostly a casual pokemon player, sometimes I just play through a game entirely and then I won't touch it for months. I'm not a fan of anything that came out after the third gen.
However, talking about the games or the franchise is not quite the reason I'm here, allthough it's pokemon related. Theoretically I'm just here to gather some information and/or seeking for help, therefore you guys shouldn't expect too many posts in other sections than the hacking related ones.
As a hacker, programmer and fan of multiplayer games, I have quite an interest to see an open source pokemon multiplayer game. But not in a way, where you have to register at a certain website, private servers are not allowed, cooperative gameplay as well as modding is nonexistant and a shopping system implemented with the developers making money from it (donations are okay though, I guess). The only way I can see this working without breaking any law is some sort of emulator fashion (has been done before, I tell you).
Anyways, don't expect too much; Motivation isn't high when you're working alone on this and therefore have to invest a lot of hours of work into it. In other words: I have no plans to finish this all alone. So it pretty much depends on the community itself (and with that I mean the whole community, not only this forum ;)).
If you're interested with helping (any help is welcome and if it's just pointing to the right direction) then I'm glad to accept your offer. Posting, writing an e-mail or pm, adding me on skype, anything is fine.
I can open an thread as well to provide additional information, I'm not quite sure in which section though, as the starting phase has to do nothing with game development but with hacking and I'm not sure how many hackers visit the game development section. Should I open a thread in both sections or perhaps some senior member can give me a little tip? :)
