    Hey there.
Your forum software just recommended that I drop by and introduce myself. So I'm going to do that.
I'm mostly a casual pokemon player, sometimes I just play through a game entirely and then I won't touch it for months. I'm not a fan of anything that came out after the third gen.
However, talking about the games or the franchise is not quite the reason I'm here, allthough it's pokemon related. Theoretically I'm just here to gather some information and/or seeking for help, therefore you guys shouldn't expect too many posts in other sections than the hacking related ones.

As a hacker, programmer and fan of multiplayer games, I have quite an interest to see an open source pokemon multiplayer game. But not in a way, where you have to register at a certain website, private servers are not allowed, cooperative gameplay as well as modding is nonexistant and a shopping system implemented with the developers making money from it (donations are okay though, I guess). The only way I can see this working without breaking any law is some sort of emulator fashion (has been done before, I tell you).

Anyways, don't expect too much; Motivation isn't high when you're working alone on this and therefore have to invest a lot of hours of work into it. In other words: I have no plans to finish this all alone. So it pretty much depends on the community itself (and with that I mean the whole community, not only this forum ;)).
If you're interested with helping (any help is welcome and if it's just pointing to the right direction) then I'm glad to accept your offer. Posting, writing an e-mail or pm, adding me on skype, anything is fine.

I can open an thread as well to provide additional information, I'm not quite sure in which section though, as the starting phase has to do nothing with game development but with hacking and I'm not sure how many hackers visit the game development section. Should I open a thread in both sections or perhaps some senior member can give me a little tip? :)

    Hai Gardebiter.

I see your Avatar, it's quite epic. Anyways, welcome to the PokeCommunity. Enjoy the Forums.

Don't forget to read the Rules and if you have any question, ask me or a Staff Member.
It's nice to see a fellow Gardevoir lover (I think).

If you want to chat, just PM or VM me! I'm looking for some buddys.

    Cya!

That's totally fine. :) A lot of people come here to hack/make fangames alone so it's no worries if you don't really plan on branching out into other boards. To each their own, right? I joined PC many years back just for the hacking aspect thanks to amazing games like Shiny Gold, so it'll always have a special place in my heart. There are a lot of resources over there to use for all sorts of hackers so I'm sure you'll find something to help you along the way; I recommend looking around the Tutorials subforum and Help Recruitment thread for starters on the first bit of your project since you said it won't have anything to do with game development until later.

I can't really help you out though as I don't make fangames, but poking around Emulation/Game Dev will guarantee you find others who would be interested. Sounds quite complex though, so I'd personally private message Game Development's moderator, Maruno, and ask him if it would fit over in his board. To me it seems like something that would fit more into Game Development than Emulation but he would be the person who can 100% help you out in that regard. Depending on the reply you get from him, you can also go ahead and contact Emulation's moderators, giradialkia and DrFuji. These three guys are our experts so don't be afraid to contact 'em.. they definitely know more than I would, haha. Go ahead and contact them now before posting a thread just so you can get a clear answer, all right? It shouldn't take very long for a reply.

Good luck and welcome to PokeCommunity! Hope you get everything sorted soon. n~n

Good evening! Or well, it's morning here, but either way welcome to PC!

It's fine if you're just a casual player cause we have many people like yourself. I'm more of a hardcore Poke gamer myself haha. There's also people here who a don't like the newer generations either. I personally love generation V a lot and thought they were better than some older generations . But gen 3 is my favorite. Hoenn was such a gorgeous region imo. Everyone here has many different opinions on Pokemon as a whole and I respect that. If you don't want to talk about the games there's many alternative sections for Pokemon and things not related to Pokemon. Just explore around and you can find everything we have.

A Pokemon multiplayer game would be really fun! Unfortunately, I'm no good at making games. :/ However there's probably people here who can help you out. You should look at Game Development cause that's where you could get all the help you can get. You can find people to help you with everything from scripting a game to resources and tools for it too. You can show off your progress on anything you develop and find all the team members you need so you won't be making the game alone anymore! It sounds like an interesting concept though, so I hope you can get it off the ground and such. I've always wanted something such as a Pokemon MMO or something similar so I'd play it if it ever gets made.

Whatever you do here, I hope you have fun doing it. If you ever need anything, you contact a moderator[/moderator] and they can help you out. See you around!

Welcome and enjoy your stay, I guess there are alot of casual pokemon players depending on your definition of casual.

    See you around :D
