    Good evening Pokecommunity™

My name is Pokedarby, or Darby for short, and i have been lurking in this forums shadows, reading various
posts, using its tutorials and learning alot about the online pokemon community, which
got me thinking (skipping to the main bit of the story): I want to release a hack.

Now this is all good and well so far, because i have all these ideas that are good
(well i consider them good) and original but i have no experience
    AT ALL with the
more sort of technical aspects of developing a hack.

Is it possible to create a DEDICATED team of more "professional people" to
do the technical side of stuff (while teaching me some of it i suppose) and have me
as the main creator of the game? i have whole storylines plotted out, im okay with creating sprite .GIF's and Fakemon but aside from
that im a complete nOOb. Any suggestions guys?

It's possible but good luck getting good hackers to let you take credit for their hard work without some sort of compensation.

Story is a minute part of any game. You would probably get props as a writer, but I don't see it being much more than that. Plus good hackers don't really like working on a hack with someone who can't offer anything in return.

It's not impossible, just not probable. Basically, to run a hack, you have to be creative(which you claim you are) but also take the time to learn how to do the basic things, at the very least. Like, for example, the two core things you'd have to learn is mapping and scripting. 'Cause without mapping, well, no one's gonna be able to replicate what's in your mind as perfectly as you can. Same goes for scripting. They're script will not always go JUST how you planned. So, my suggestion is to just take more time to read the tutorials and learn how to do the things required to hack, instead of just contributing ideas and having to rely on everyone.

    Yeh i know, i knew it would be a longshot haha, but ill keep at it and i'll eventually be able to make a move on this kind of stuff on my own, thanks for the advice. When are you releasing Winters Corner 3rd edition? (;

There are some very talented people on this site, both in the emulation pages and outside of them. I haven't released any hacks yet, but a friend and I are helping each other on our hacks. Knowing that when he releases his, my name will be there for mapping, just gives me a sense of gratitude, and achievement. I'm sure if you looked hard enough, you could find people, but the easier way to go is "Credit given where credit is due."

Nintendo technically owns the pokemon games, but on every title intro screen, there's Game freak's logo, and pokemon (tm) 1999-2010, or what ever. Nintendo still gives credit to the people that made the game reality. and the same should be applied to hacks, Because you have the ideas, but you need other people with the ability to make this work.

I wish you luck on your project, and if you need a mapper, or some one to bounce storyline ideas off, just PM me, I'm always willing to help a beginner, since we all were at one point (i still am in some points lol)

Well it's good to want to make an hack , what u need is to do something becasue as all who posted before me said nowaday noone helps u on ur hack without getting in exchange something.
i mean if u are a mapper and need help with scripts a scripter will help u if u help him than at mapping and so on....
but well i don't think that someone will want to help U just because u have storyideas u have to learn something ur self and work on ur hack too than and more than others work on ur hack.
all this wasnt meant mean or somehitng it's just i know that noone hels u without getting something kidna in exchnage...noone help me without getting somehting too.
    But well Good luck:)

I used to think the same way. Not knowing what to do, wanting my hack to be made. But no one does all the work for you. I realized that even if I did get people to do most of the hacking, it wouldn't be MY hack, not just in a credit way, but also no one would be able to make everything the way I imagine it to be because no one is a mind reader. That's why I decided to learn hacking myself and work on it solo. If you are really dedicated to your hack, you should learn everything you want other people to do and work on it yourself. Trust me, you'll be more satisfied that way.
