Hi, I'm Chicky and I've been mostly lurking in the ROMhacks section past these years.
The new games are cool but I prefer playing the really old generations (1st to 3rd) for nostalgic reasons.
I've decided to post because I'm really curious about my Pokemon Red cartridge and I wanted to ask about it, but the 5 post limitation didn't let me create a thread for it.
Please don't instantly ban me if this is not allowed, lol. I'll just go back to lurking.

When I was around 8 years old my German Pokemon Red stopped working properly. I could no longer save (might have dropped it in water and killed the battery).
But other than that the sprites didn't show properly anymore and every box in my PC was filled before I even got my Pokedex.
What I'm curious about is how this happens and if it has happened to anyone else?
Is there anything cool I can do with this "broken" game?
I've never really played around with this after getting my Pokedex because I couldn't save and the game kept freezing if I used the glitch pokemon.
I have a video showcasing this but I can't post links yet. (Or just add this to the youtube URL watch?v=l6GD2kNPwaM)

    But yeah, that's all. Cheers.

welcome! hope you stick around. i do not know the answer to your question, but i am curious to hear if anyone else does!

i still have my og firered and ruby cartridges and play them periodically. nothing can beat the nostalgia factor

Welcome to PC! I think you could try asking in the Fan Game Hub section? The users there can do magic with game data afaik c: https://www.pokecommunity.com/forumdisplay.php?fn=fan-games-hub

And don't worry, asking questions about how things work is fine - if a thread ends up in the wrong place the mods can simply move it. And if you need to up your post count for some reason, you're very welcome to join us in the Forum Games section for a bit ^^ https://www.pokecommunity.com/forumdisplay.php?fn=forum-games

I still love the gen 1-3 games too! Especially gen 2! For all the updates and modernizations that have happened, the old games still have an immense charm that the newer ones can't beat. Probably nostalgia heh but so be it.

    Good luck!

Hello, ChickyChan, and welcome to the forums!

It is always great to see new members who have been playing since the first generations!
I can relate. I will always remember playing the first generations, and Charizard has always been my top favourite pokémon since Red, for nostalgic reasons! ^^
What pokémon do you like to use in the first generations' games ?

Sorry to hear this happened to your cartridge... I wish you the best of luck to find a way!
