X/Y were good games. Kalos and Hoenn are my favorite regions so gen 6 with X/Y and ORAS is the best generation for me =3
Not many people rate Ice types that high =3 For me it's my favorite type and Water is tied for 6th along with Electric.

Do you have a favorite Water starter? For me it's Empoleon =D
Did you play ORAS? I personally loved soaring in the sky and being able to catch Deoxys in the postgame while on the back of Rayquaza whilst in space was just epic imo.

I mean fan games, unofficial games made by fans, that you can play on computers (directly or through emulators in the case of ROM hacks). For PC fan games, I would especially suggest Zeta / Omicron, Solar Light - Lunar Dark, and my personal favourite, Insurgence! If you are into hard battles, tough challenges and hairpulling puzzles, I can also suggest Reborn!

I love fire starters (my top favourite pokémon is Charizard, always has been). Flamethrower is best move! Gardevoir is a great choice indeed with the Special Attack and the Psychic and Fairy types! False Swipe is neat! In Insurgence, I had Mew as my special wild pokémon catcher, with Thunder Cage, Sword Dance and False Swipe. I caught all the pokémon I could like that, Legendaries included!

I play for the story and characters, to explore the original region (and all of its secret places and very remote and faraway paths, to discover the fakémon (not to get started on all the Delta Pokémon in Insurgence!), and to make a foes-crushing-team of six max levels pokémon with enhanced attack stats and powerful but precise moves. One of these fan games made Gardevoir become my second favourite pokémon, and also significantly contributed in making me find and stay on PokéCommunity! ^^

Do you consider the visual look and appearance of Pokémon as an important criteria in picking them as favourites / for your team ?

Dark, with Ice as a close second.

Jigglypuff sounds like quite the little prankster, he could make quite a name for himself as a sleep therapist though.

haha, I was wondering if someone would comment on me saying Vaporeon is the best. I was worried people would think I'm too new, but I'm glad you said something! I wonder if Alex's love of Dark pokémon has him mistakenly think Umbreon is the best and Gardevoir's love of fire starters has her mistakenly think Flareon's the best. :P

My favorite water starter is Squirtle. It may be because it was in the game I started with, but none after that have been able to match it for me. Unfortunately, my memory really sucks, and I don't really remember if I played ORAS. Did it have new Pokémon in it? I skip games like Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl if they don't include any new pokémon to collect.

If by new you mean Pokemon not normally found in Hoenn then yes. They included the new evolutions that were added in later generations to mons available in Hoenn such as for example. Sylveon and Gallade. They also added Mirage Islands that you could access via soaring in the sky that would let you catch a selection of generation 1-5 Pokemon as well as catching various legendaries from gens 2-5 if you... caught your version legendary... or perhaps it was beating the E4, I'm not entirely sure anymore =P For example, the legendary beasts and Reshiram/Zekrom/Kyurem are catchable.
If by new you mean Pokemon that were introduced for the first time in this game, then outside of some Megas that XY didn't have that would be a nope.

Squirtle is my preferred starter for Kanto games, but I personally don't have a type of starter that I always pick. In SwSh and SV my favorites are the Grass starters. In gen 7 the water starter, In gen 6 it's the Fire starter, etc. I do more often seem to consider the Water or Grass starter my favorite though. Gen 6 is the only gen where the Fire type starter is my fav of the bunch =P Well so far anyway.

Have you played any spin off games such as for example the Mystery Dungeon games or (New) Snap?

I meant new as in introduced for the first time. While I enjoy the stories as I play through the games, my main motivation is collecting things. A variety in starters is nice! I just love water pokémon too much :P. The only spinoff I have played is Pokémon Stadium.

Yes! I'm a collector first in pretty much every game I play, and I love that sense of satisfaction once I get the last one!
