Hey everyone! Name is Ken. I have been viewing and posting for a few days, and figured I should introduce myself :-)
I just figured out about the emulator for my phone and couldn't get a pokemon game fast enough, then found out about the roms and I knew I was going to have a problem, there aren't enough hours in the day!
But...that has not been an issue yet as I can't get the patches to work, or find the right emulators. Is there someone/multiple that might be willing to help walk a noon through some of this?
I have tried looking in other threads and have come up empty, so if this is all covered somewhere else then I can not find it..
    Thanks everyone!

Hey and welcome to the forums!
Ok so as for that idk what to perfectly say but i can give it a try!
Firstly download VBA aka Visual Boy Advance and download a rom which im assuming u know how to do :) u must download the correct rom for the hack in each section it will say what the hack is a hack of so ex. Firered. Download that and put it in a folder i suggest labeled with what hack u r downloading then download the hacks patch! The best way to patch something is using LIPS or Lunar IPS. Once it is downloaded use it to apply the patch select the rom and the patch and its done i am honestly not so sure if this works perfectly for android but it works for me and my friends :)

Do you have an android or iPhone? Android I can help with. :3
Go to the play store and get an app like unipatcher or ROMpatcher and follow their instructions. Kinda like this:
    1 get your ROM(Pokemon Ruby.zip) and patch(Pokemon Ruby Patch.ips)
2 unzip file(I use Zarchiver) (go and extract the file to do this. Pokemon Ruby.GBA)
3 go to patching app and click on Patch then go to download, then click on your patch. (Pokemon Ruby Patch.ips)
4 Do the same for the ROM. (Pomemon Ruby.GBA)
5 some will allow you to rename it.
6 tap on the patch button and wait for it to complete.
7 open it in almost any emulator to play. :3 I usually use MyBoy and myOldBoy but there's also John GBA lite and others like it that work. It all depends on your tastes. just be sure to open Download on the emulator menu to play it. :3 if you used unipatcher it would say Pokemon Ruby [patched].GBA and ROM patcher let's you rename it.

Edit: If you need to use a tablet or something else to download the Roms from places you can always move the game to an SD card. :3
