ok when i come across a steelix(lv 46) its down to 1 or 2 and i use a ultra ball and it escapes

    help

at lv. 46, you may need a status condition to catch it. too bad thunder wave won't work. (correct me if i'm wrong.) try putting it to sleep.

they are found in caves such as stark mt and victory road so dusk ball have a x5 capture rate if I recall correctly. Try them thats how i catch alot of my cave pokes.

what is a dusk ball and where can i get them

im also trying to beat Aaron from the elite team

You can buy them at "Snowpoint City, Solaceon Town, Pastoria City, and the Pokemon League Pokemarts".

    Hope that helped. :D

You may need to make it sleep or frozen. In my opinion I would say, use a Gengar or any ghost type pokemon that can make it go to sleep obviously Hypnosis for that matter and pray to god that you catch it but that is my opinion, and it's so strange that I rely on great balls alot so I would say use 1-5 great balls, if it doesn't catch it then use an ultra ball.

Well, it depends on what you prefer, in my opinion I would choose Onix, if you have a think with steelix, steelix has more weaknesses than Onix as steelix is steel aswell as rock.

Personally I have no problems catching pokes, In this game though rather than in the past editions where pressing (A) and (B) simutaniously helped a little it stops the balls from working so dont press buttons <Not sure if it actually helped I mean I usually caught it after doing the A/B thing where as before I didnt> As for Onix its weak against water/grass/psychic/ground and Steelix is weak against fire/ground I think not 100% positive but steelix definatly FTW also might I suggest a scizor for speed and physical attack? they often work well.

It's worth noting that even with a Dusk Ball, Steelix is hard as hell to catch. I remember throwing Dusks by the dozen to no avail.

@ Drakorn: Steelix actually has less weaknesses than Onix.

    Onix is weak to:
Fighting, Ground, Steel, Ice, Water (4x), and Grass(4x).

    Steelix is weak to:
    Fighting, Ground, Fire, Water

Add onto that the enormous amount of resistances that comes with being a Steel-type, as well as an extra 40 base Defense. By the way, Steelix is Steel/ Ground, not
    Steel/ Rock.
