Hi all, I'm new to the game and I recently bought some theme decks and wanted to know what would be some good combinations for a deck/s.

The current theme decks that I have include:

    Green Tornado
    Red Frenzy
    Blue Assault
    Power Play
    Toxic Tricks
    Verdant Frost
    Royal Guard

Please give me some advice on what would be some good combinations of what I have.

    Many thanks in advance.

I would recommend an Earth deck with the Machamp/Nidoking from the Royal Guard deck. Cinccino from the Red Frenzy deck is a great colorless stage 1 (especially if you have Double Colorless Energy) Starter decks tend to come with rather crappy trainer content but if you add all the decks together you should end up with fairly decent trainers.

I can tell you how you can build great deck.

First off all i like to play no evolution deck.

Why? Couse You can put in your deck strong basic pokemon and you win every time.

    Here is one grass deck:

    2x EX Scyhter
    2x Rocket's EX Scyhter
    4x Rocket's Scyhter
    4x Scyhter Neo geneis edition
    4x Mysterious Fossil Fossil edition
    4x Aerodactyl Fossil edition
    14x grass energy
    4x Double colorless energy
    4x Dark energy
    4x Professor elm
    4x Computer search
    4x Gold berry
    4x Plus power
    2x Item finder

This deck is more efective and powerful that today new deck's.

Have you actually tried it against the tournament decks of the last few years? I'm not talking about the weak theme decks, I'm talking about decks that actually won and placed at tournaments. The newer cards have such high HPs and such energy-efficient attacks that almost all older decks are blown out of the water, including yours.

This is no evolution deck. That mean when you have poke power say: "Prehistoric Power - No more Evolution cards can be played. This power stops working while Aerodactyl is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed."

And you have onlly good basic pokemon card's in your deck. So noone can play evolved pokemon in play any more. And you can win easy.

The thing is, recent average basic Pokemon have as much if not more HP than Aerodactyl and there are a couple 130 HP Basic Pokemon that are very popular right now that could take out Aerodactyl in one hit. Also, modern decks use Rare Candy and they can get a fully-evolved Pokemon out Turn 2 (current rules don't allow evolving on Turn 1), before you have a chance to get Aerodactyl.

I wish I can go on some tournament with no evolution deck.. This is just light version i like Ex Mewtwo combo and Hitmonchan.

Hm Reshiram need 3 fire energy to do 80dmg and you need to discard all of them. He have 130HP.

Not a good card i would like to say because you need to discard every time 3 energy.

There is no Rehsiram card that does only 80 damage. There is only one that does 120 damage for 3 energy and discarding two Fire energy, and has an attack called Outrage that does 20 damage plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on Reshiram.

Zekrom, another strong basic, is similar to Reshiram, except that it's an Electric-type and it's attack that does 120 damage does 40 damage to itself instead of discarding energy. Zekrom can even get powered up quickly by a couple other basic Pokemon from recent sets.

I think it's really going to depend on what you ultimately want to achieve. Unfortunately, combining theme decks isn't going to net you something that will win your local City Championships. It can, however, build something that you can use to have some fun at leagues, or with some buddies.

One of the biggest things to consider when you're building a deck is consistency. This means that you'll want a reliable way to get your basics in play; you'll want a reliable way to evolve said basics, and you'll want to be able to attach energy when you need to. Try to stay away from the "Theme Deck numbers" here; meaning that the pyramid (4-2-1) evolution lines won't cut it, you shouldn't ever need as much energy as what's in a theme deck under normal circumstances, and your trainers/supporters are your friend!

I'm not 100% on the content of those particular theme decks, but try to find some pokemon that work well together. The reason Reshiram and Typhlosion Prime is such a popular deck is because of the synergy between them (Reshiram discards fire energy, Typhlosion puts it back on without using the 1 attachment per turn), so if you're able to find a similar use between a few cards you already have, you're well on your way to building a solid deck.

    Hopefully that all makes sense!
