I need help in Windows. I've just installed Windows XP on my Computer and the speakers aren't working. When I go to the Control Panel then to Sounds and Audio Devices, it says, "No Audio Device," and my speakers are pluged in the correct place. Any advice on what's going on? One of the reason why I swicthed to Linux but now the things I need to do can not be done on Linux. *sigh* :( I running Windows XP SP2.

It sounds like you have a bad sound card or driver. What kind of hardware do you have?

I've ruled out of that posibility since it worked this morning when I had Linux on it. Now with Windows XP, it doesn't work.

Forgive me if I sound dumb, but you did install the driver, right? And I suppose the type of soundcard would be helpful too.

Of course go into volume and make sure there's nothing muted, etc.

Stupid me. I forgot to install the driver. It works now. Thanks.

Personally, I wonder who the heck installs windows unless they're insane or something- mine crashes every 5 minutes, but my debian box has been on for a few months without a problem

I'm one of those insane people. No I'm just kidding. It's just that I'm a gamer and some things I need Windows for. Gaming, Photoshop, etc. I would like to install Debain but I don't have enough cds. I've heard that it's a very stable distro. Unlike Mephis and Fedora. Those are a piece of junk.

the only reason I use winbloz is b/c 2 games can't run on wine, crossover office,or cedega. And besides,I run blackbox on winbloz when I actually use it(which is almost never).

Seriously you'd be way better off with Deb^^
I mean it o.o, you ever see how much win crashes?

~and btw~ Debian is seriously stable, and it starts up quite fast also

Ok. That's good. Fedora and Mephis are even worse than Windows ME. I have no idea how I lived through Fedora and Mephis. Well, I found out that I do have enough CD's so I'll be dual booting Debain and Windows.
